This is an excellent school and staff. I had no issues with signing up, friendly staff, and educational. They walk you through the process of what is to come for the next few months for the classes and scheduling of driving times. Everything is automated and it's a simple click on the schedule to sign up for the drive times. Instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. Class content seems to be top notch and prepares young drivers for any test that they take. I highly recommend this Driving School.

They have the worst customer service. Probably because you have no choice but to agree to all THEIR conditions and contracts. But once you pay the money you have no recourse. They can cancel on you or not be available via phone or give lame useless answers via email but you have no recourse if they can't or won't help you with issues. I felt right from very beginning at the never-ending parent meeting that they were kind of haughty or rude, but at that point I didn't have any issues. The drive scheduling system is completely nerve-wracking and inflexible. They refuse to do anything to help you with it. Just spout their contract language. They just really do not seem to care about the clients. They take your money and then you either do what they want, when they want, on their terms entirely or you're free to lose your investment and go elsewhere. And this is from folks who are working with kids!!!! I found a lot of similar reviews on yelp, Google and other review sites. Too bad they don't have more competition. They'd have to up their game or go out of business. Even if a company can't resolve an issue to my complete satisfaction, most are willing to listen; be polite; and try to resolve to the satisfaction of all parties. Not GLDA. And they just don't seem to care.

This company is running a scam. You pay $400, which doesn't sound bad, but they overbook their students so there aren't enough driving slots available, they only post driving times a few weeks in advance, and then you have to pay extra to extend your time. I don't understand how they justify forcing you into completing your school on their schedule when they don't provide enough times. So in general, they penalize you for their inability to provide drive times. We paid $75 to extend the time once, then went on line and guess what? All times are already booked. So we will have to pay an additional $75 to extend it even more, and risk there not being any drive times available again. All three of my kids went through Carol Watkins in Keller and none of them had any issues like this whatsoever. I would NOT use this company ever again, and will recommend everyone I know to not use them as well.
Response from Green Light Driving Academy
"Green Light Driving Academy is required by law to have a contract deadline. GLDA chooses to have the longest contract deadline allowed by the Texas Education Agency. Our contract deadline is for one full year. Parents are HIGHLY encouraged to attend our parent orientation class. At the parent class, the staff discusses scheduling drive lessons and encourages parents NOT to wait to schedule drive lessons because there are times during the school year, when drive lessons are in higher demand than other times of the year. In most cases, a parent whom has a complaint about lack of drive lessons, is a parent who DID NOT attend the parent class and who has waited until the end of the contract period to begin scheduling lessons. I can not speak specifically about this complaint, as I am unable to research the name of the student. At the parent orientation class, parents are encouraged to schedule AT LEAST ONE lesson per month, every month throughout the contract period. The staff also explains that the beginning month or two of the school year and from March 1st through the end of the school year is when drive lessons are at highest demand on the driving schedule. At GLDA, drive lessons are added to the scheduling system at a set time on a given day every week. The time and day of the week of the lesson scheduling is explained to parents at the parent class. Parents and student schedule their own drive lessons with GLDA on our on-line scheduling system. If a customer chooses to not make the scheduling of drive lessons throughout the contract period a priority, GLDA or any driver education school in Texas, must by law terminate the contract at the end of the period if lessons are not complete. Green Light Driving Academy does offer contract extensions for purchase if a student fails to complete the lessons."

Class was fine but scheduling the 7 hours of driving with the instructors is challenging because you can schedule only 1 session every 8 days. The schedule is posted only 3 weeks at a time and the slots are always filled the minute they are posted, So it's really a day by day scheduling waiting for cancelations to become available.
