Everything went great. Daniel had everything working and installed in less than 2 hours, and on the Saturday before Christmas
(when nobody else I called was available). He was exactly on time and was knowledgable and friendly.

The result is beautiful! Daniel listened to our requests and even suggested improvements. As the work progressed, Daniel reported tasks completed and answered all questions. He coordinated work with the window and floor installer. The quality of his work is excellent. He is very creative and it is obvious that he takes pride in his work.

When finished, the front entrance looked better than I had hoped--quite elegant, really--and the stain applied to the doors harmonized quite closely with the wood floor covering that I had suggested as a model for the coloring. Daniel had a delay in acquiring the doors from his supplier (not his fault), but on the whole the project went well, and Daniel kept me informed about what was happening and what schedule adjustments needed to be made. He tries hard to please his customers and prices his work fairly.

Overall, everything was terrific. Our bathroom was in dire need of remodeling and was very dated (60's) Dan turned it into a bathroom we can be proud to showoff when people visit. It's updated, but not too trendy. All the work was done in a timely manner and with great precision and expertise.

I was given an estimate for work to be done in my bathroom and was told it would take 3 days. I decided to have Daniel of Daniel Designs do the work. A couple of days prior to the Monday he was scheduled to start work Daniel notified me that he would not be able to start until Tuesday. Daniel and his helper were here a total of two days instead of three. The second day they were appling mud to the ceiling and walls. Instead of letting it dry and sanding the areas that needed it they went ahead and textured the walls. The lighting was not very good so I provided a work halogen light for there use. They were kind enough to put the light away for me prior to having my wife look at the final product and securing payment. I got home later that evening and looked at the substandard job that was performed . The ceiling looked terrible with numerous imperfections. The walls had bare spots with no texture and there was a crack in the mud. I called Daniel and he came out to look at my concerns. He agreed to come back and work on it. However, it took several weeks before he made it back out and only made the ceiling look worse. It looks so bad, I will scrape and re-texture myself. I would not recommend Daniel Designs for Drywall work.
Response from DANIEL'S DESIGN & REMODELING
"As we all know the customer is always right, however I must respond to what I consider to be an unfair if not inacurate report. The final outcome of the texture was well above standards for a splatter drag finish. I wish to add the texture was more than a match to the existing texture in the home if not better. I would have though revisited if given opportunity, any areas in question, but don't know how it could have been improved on. The job was completed to the same standards as in my many A rated reports"

Daniel was very nice. I enjoyed working with him. He was reliable and up front. The financial side of the project went well, I received a small discount through Angie's List. Overall, he was great.

Daniel returned my call immediately. We arraigned for him to come and estimate job. He was punctual for the visit, and got back to me promptly with a price, which I accepted a day later. Daniel got back to me with start date, which shifted a day or so, but that was not a problem.
On the first day, he came with a helper/drywall specialist, opened the wall diagnosed the problem and closed the wall. On the second day he came to repair the roof leak, and install the speaker wire. When done, he left his helper to complete the drywall taping and wall texture (over two days).
Daniel came back to paint (which was supplied by me). The first coat turned out badly, but I discovered that the hardware store had used the wrong paint base to mix one of the two gallons of wall paint. The walls therefore needed an unexpected second coat with the correct paint. Although it was not anticipated, Daniel kindly agreed to repaint on a second day.
When the second coat was dry, there were a number of paint holidays and a lot of overspray from the texturing. As agreed, I contacted Daniel to return and make it right, but, unfortunately, he never returned my call.
The roof repair, wire installation and taping job were okay, but texture overspray covered t he windows and trim (I'm still cleaning it). The paint job was okay, but there are holidays and over-painting. Overall, the quality of work was only fair and Daniel?s professionalism was a bit lacking..

Response from DANIEL'S DESIGN & REMODELING
"As per your report Dear customer as you indicated the first coat of paint I applied was the fault of the hardware store for mixing the wrong base in one of the two cans which naturally would leave two different looks..I did return two apply a second coat of paint at no charge, though I only agreed to one coat since the old color was the same as the new and doesn't require two coats, which we did discuss. I cleaned what I thought was all of the over spray from the texture while you inspected the areas that I might have missed and upon leaving that day I said you find any problems you know where I am, so call. Never did I not return your call Sir, as a matter of fact I called you a few days later to ask you if everything was okay and you said that the paint look fine ,However you did find a few spots of texture on the base board which you said you could take care of since more of the trim in that room needed attention which as you know was not a part of our contract. In closing again I never did not return any of your calls and was always ready to return to address any issues you may have had, or complete any punch list supplied...... Daniel Hall"

The experience was seamless - he came over, gave me some advice on how to maximize the storage space, gave me a quote and we set up a date. He was there on time and the job was done quickly and very professionally. Everything was cleaned up and I am ready to go. Daniel is a pleasure to work with, as well as a great contractor.

The experienced was good start to finish. I knew my job was small, and that many contractors wouldn't want to take it on, but Daniel promptly returned my call, gave me an estimate, and we scheduled the work from there. He was on time, did a great job, and left everything neat and clean.

I had requested bids from three companies for a major remodel and a scaled-down version for either renting or selling my old home. Mr. Hall bid exactly as requested (other contractors "gold-plate" their estimates).
Mr. Hall performed the work in a timely manner and was very easy to work with. He kept me informed of all progress and respond proactively and in a positive fashion when minor issues arose. He made sure he understood the issue and fixed promptly. I would definitely consider using Mr. Hall's services again if the need arises.

He did fine quality work. He had to be prompted to communicate about his intention. He did an excellent work. It was frustrating because I wasn’t sure when he would be coming. He has definite hours to work and was clear about it. He didn’t come in the morning and on weekend. He was always cordial and pleasant. Whenever he cut and fit something it looked great. I would use them in the future.

We are so very pleased with all of the work Daniel Hall has done. He shows the utmost professionalism and courtesy at all times. We are perfectly comfortable leaving him in the home when we are not here. We look forward to having him do more work in our home as well as encouraging friends and family to use him.

Contracted Daniel to install a wall and set of double doors on the entry to a game room and build matching cabinet doors to a kitchen desk we rarely used to increase kitchen storage. He was very prompt with an estimate and to schedule the work when we decided to proceed. He was punctual and kept us informed of progress throughout. The finished product looked great. The cabinet doors we added are indistinguishable from the rest of our cabinets. The upstairs walls and doors appear to be originals to the house as built. He was able to work around our schedules and had no complaints from our nanny who was taking care of two small children during his work days. He was responsive to any adjustments we requested without any hesitation. Would call him again for any work needed.

Daniel was professional and responsive to our requests. He made accommodations to our work schedule and completed the tasks as promised. I was disappointed in the quality of the finish work, e.g. the placement of seams in the floor trim and the overall cleanup. Since the work was in the garage, utility room and a small bathroom I did not ask for any adjustments. If the areas had been more central or exposed, I would have asked for corrections to be made.

Finished cabinet work looks great, my wife loves it. We were not in a hurry, so work was done over several weeks from time of contract. Some minor electrical problems were promptly corrected when brought to contractor's attention. Overall good quality and value for the cost.

Everything was done in a relatively short period of time. The old appliances were carefully removed; there was no damage to anything. The cabinet/wall where the old microwave and oven had been needed to be redone to accomodate a new microwave convection oven combination and a warming drawer. There was a storage drawer under the old oven which we thought we would lose in changing to the new appliances. Mr. Hall was very precise in his measurements and assured us that he would be able to keep the storage drawer, and we did! He had to move a shelf within the cabinet for the new oven. He was not satisfied with the appearance of the piece of wood that showed between the oven and the warming drawer so he made another one and replaced it after the new appliances were installed. He even called the evening the appliances were installed to make sure that everything was satisfactory. We were very pleased with his work and workmanship.

Daniel is a quality person who does very good work. I am extremely picky and there were a couple of details I wasn't satisfied with the first time through. Daniel kept working until I was completely satisfied, It's hard finding people like him who actually care about getting the job just right before moving on to the next customer.

I am a Realtor. I had a vacant house that someone had broken into and had swung from the top rail of the staircase and had broken the top banister post. It was really loose. The house was under contract and I agreed to have the post secured and repaired for the new buyer. I found Daniel through Angies list and based on the reviews called and asked him if he could repair it. He said it sounded like something easy and his minimum charge was $200.00. We set an appt and he did not show up. I waited a couple of days and called him back. He said he thought the appt was later in the week. Ok, so we reset the appt. I met him at the house and since it was a $300,000 home, I wanted to make sure it was going to be fixed and look like it did prior to the vandalisim. Daniel did tell me that he would do his best work and if a repair didn't work, he would replace the post. I left and he did the repair calling me and telling me that he did not have to replace the post, that 2 long screws did the trick. I paid him and a few days later went out to take a look. I could not have been more disappointed with the result. He had left trash, a caulk gun laying on the step, and even though the post was secure, it was rough on the bottom, had not been finished off, putty was put on the holes he had to drill and then some stain was brushed on which had dried to a flat matte finish. The original banister was a glossy finish. The repaired post had not been sanded down, it had not been primed, it had not been properly stained. It was a mess. A high school kid could have done better. So, yes I am to blame for paying him before seeing the final product but he talked a good game and claims to be a "professional". Well this was not a professional job. I had to hire someone else that knew something about finished woodwork to complete the job. When I asked him about the job, he said he could go back out and put a new post (for an additional fee) but at that point I didn't think I could trust that he knew what he was doing on remodeling or finish out on woodwork. He might be a great handyman but he did not know how to make something look finished professionally. He said he would have to charge me more to make it look better. My goodness, I didn't realize that I had to pay extra for a "finished" product. I was willing in the beginning to pay whatever I needed to make it look like new again. I still don't know why he thought I just wanted a "slap-dab" 10 minute fix on a $300,000 home.
Response from DANIEL'S DESIGN & REMODELING
"The above report is inaccurate, I quoted her site unseen my minimum price for a one time trip, which based on the information she gave me by phone was a very possible fix. Upon arriving there and seeing the actual damage not only to the post, but also to the base it was secured to. I told her that I would do the best I could to repair it without post and base replacement which I told her would definately entail more time and material expense which she also understood. It was then agreed I would try to do the work with what was there, and if it didn't look good enough we would do the replacements. The area was just too damaged to secure the post and have it be finished properly so as of our last conversation I was more than willing to do what it took to accomplish our plan B option with the replacement of the necessary parts. She said to hold off and wait for her to call me back which she didn't. It was understood from the very beginning that I was going to try to make a repair that would save her money but if it didn't work that I would have to do a replacement, She did understand this, but never gave me the opportunity to follow up. Her report is totally out of line. Not so unlike a dentist telling you he'll try to save a tooth at one price but tells you if he can't you may need a crown at another price, and then when he says he can't save the tooth, instead of getting the the crown which was previously known was a possibility you don't go back for the crown and instead bad mouth him. I was ready and willing to complete this work using our agreed upon second option but was not allowed to"

Overall the job was done very well. He did a good job of matching the crown molding on a new wall and also of matching the custom baseboard in two different areas. The cost was fair and the overall quality of the work was very good.

After 10 years in a 25 year old house, the look was outdated and general repair and maintenance work was sorely needed. After the initial estimate, I asked them to look at other areas that needed work. Daniel's Design and Remodeling gave me an estimate on the additional cost and let me know if it was possible to get the additional work done at the same time. Daniel's Design and Remodeling was prompt, professional, and extremely courteous. As each part of the job was completed, they diligently cleaned up and left the area cleaner than it was to begin with. As they worked in each room, they even performed some additional maintenance that needed to be done that I wasn't even aware of. All within the original estimate. I've used Daniel's Design and Remodeling for several jobs in the past and have always been extremely pleased with both the price and quality of work. I would recommend them for any remodeling needs.

All of the above work was done in a very timely manner. They were careful about dust and noise, and when there was heavy stuff going on they did it on nights and the weekend. The area was kept clean and trash was always quickly disposed of, and the plastic barriers they hung kept the work dust contained. I must say the experience far exceeded my expectations of what I thought could have been an ordeal, it certainly turned out very professional and attractive.
