South River Restoration

Horrible. Worked with company for over a year, no work has ever been done. I have been passed to several ( more than 4) project managers. They have spent hours of my time taking pictures of all my belongs to pack up, meeting with the hardwood floor installers. Deposit was made but they would never come do the work. They even asked me to find some people to move my appliances.

In one word - CRAPPY!   The second day the painter was 2 hours late.   I complained.   He was on-time the next two days, but late on another day.   On the subsequent day, he called at 9 am and said he wasn't coming after I'd taken off of work and waited on him since 8am.  A couple of days later, he didn't show at all.  No call, no nothing.    When he painted the walls, he didn't remove wall/switch plates and got paint on them.  He was supposed to prime the new drywall and then paint it; he only put one coat of paint on the new drywall.  The project manager would not return my calls or listen to my concerns.    On another subsequent day, after I had confirmed the day before that they would be here at 9 am, they didn't show again.   I then fired them.  They sent a bill to my insurance company for about $8,000 of work they did not do.   I had to have a conference call with them and the insurance company where they admitted they didn't do the work.  I would never use them for remodel services again

Started off fine, but then I couldn't get in touch with the project manager and then found out that he had quit in the middle of the job.  Had a hard time getting the sub-contractors to show up and when they did they came late and left early, because they had to drive to North Dallas from their warehouse in Grand Prairie and then had to quit early so they could drive back!  Did not clean up after the finish and it took almost a week to get them back to finish the clean up and touch up from the walk through.  Took over 2 weeks to complete what should have been a three day job!

Regarding: Carpet cleaning to depth of remedial / bacterial extraction beyond carpet & padding. After the carpet dried, it remained dirty looking with stains as before. Strongest indication of inadequacy was that the carpet maintained the "odor" of bacteria; therefore, the bacteria was not removed. Bacterial removal was primary; not satisfied. Vendor offered to pull up carpet, replace pads, relay & stretch carpet for another $221.75. Unacceptable. Additionally, requested that the HVAC vents be cleaned. They were satisfactory with that, except that they did not include the dryer vents (their respective competitors do). I offered a compromise settlement. I checked with 3 competitors for comparable services, and sent a check for $200 for the HVAC cleaning. Vendor refused settlement. They said they would send back the check. Never received original check back. Bottom Line: Purpose of cleaning the carpet was to remedy the dangerous bacteria that had leaked from my husband's ulcer-laced legs (edema, pressure ulcers). I tried the less expensive approach of cleaning our apartment's carpets, and hired South River because they advertised that they could do a deeper, more intense cleaning (ex: water damage, fire damage), therefore I felt confident that some "overkill" was better than hiring a standard carpet cleaning company. Because the carpet cleaning was not successful, I was forced to return to "Plan A", which was paying my apartment complex $1,200 cash for their carpet guys to put in brand new wood laminate flooring. I needed to have this completed prior to my husband's return from the hospital, so timing was tight (South River was prompt). When my husband and I move out, the next tenants will enjoy nice wood laminate flooring.
