Heating and Air Conditioning Service
While replacing the A/C blower motor, the service repair man from Prestige Air Service noted that " the evaporator coil is very dirty". His initial estimate for this service was $600, but said he called his boss and was able to get the price reduced. The new estimate was " $360 to clean evaporator coil, $490 if we have to cut the copper lines and pull it out". The repairman mentioned that he did not have time to perform this service (1.5 - 2 hours labor) and that I would need to make a separate appointment. Not feeling comfortable with the estimate that I received from Prestige Air Service, I decided to get a second opinion from an independent contractor. While inspecting the evaporator coil, the independent contractor asked me to come to the attic. He showed me the evaporator coil and indicated that it did not need to be cleaned. It was already "very clean".
