I used HomeTeam for about four years at my previous residence meaning I've spent about $1400-1600 with this company. I never had a problem with bugs so I assume the system worked. I moved into a new house with the same Traxx system built-in and called to schedule HomeTeam to begin service. Although the beauty of the in-the-wall system is I don't have to be home--and not being home was never an issue at my old house--I spoke with their service manager and he insisted that I have to be home for the first service. I asked why and the service manager said they needed to inspect the interior of the house and the attic. I said I would forego these inspections as it's a brand new house and I'm confident there are no rodents in the attic and I've seen no bug infestations inside. Turns out they needed me home to do a sales job, upsell into a contract, and secure my signature on legal paperwork (as if there's no fax or email to sign a contract). Given that we couldn't find a time that was convenient--their Saturday appointments were weeks out--I decided to go with someone else. I couldn't believe their sales manager was so rigid and could care less about having or losing business.
Then, "Betty" left a note on my front door offering $50 off. I called her and she was able to get me in the immediate next Saturday. She took my credit card information on the phone. I asked what cards they accepted and she said, "Visa, MC and AMEX." But when I attempted to use AMEX, she said they don't like taking AMEX due to the fees. I said, "if you take AMEX, I want to use my AMEX." She begrudingly took the AMEX. But when the call was over, I guess she thought that the phone was disconnected but it was not...she then went on to curse me saying "geesh..." Here is a suggestion--if you are going to curse your customers under your breath, make sure that your phone line disconnects first.
All I can gather is that the HomeTeam Corporate Office has an in-it-for-the-money, anti-customer, the customer is always wrong, and hate the customer culture. The fact they've installed this system in a bunch of new construction homes is a gold mine for them. Well I can say this--I have watched these homes get built, the Traxx system is installed using staples, and in one case after a storm the tubes were dangling in the wind disconnected, and the mason just came and put brick over it. So at least one house I'm aware of...will think they have a "barrier" around their house--first time the chemicals are pumped in they'll just pool under the port because the tubes aren't connected.
As for the technician, when he came out, despite what I was told by the Sales Manager--the technician DID NOT inspect the attick, he DID NOT inspect the house--other than sign the paperwork, all of the work he did was OUTSIDE. So there was absolutely no need for me to spend two hours at home while he was there.
The technician himself, Jeff, was great--professional, knowledagble, cleancut and hard working. He seemed to take pride in his job and was apologetic for the corporate office actions and seemed eager to please and committed to doing the right thing. I impressed with the technician and the service he provided.
