The representative contractor (Air Duct USA) had promised installation of a new ?free? a/c intake vent filter on the day of service. Instead we bought the "set" of filters at $15 each (the ?free filter? was actually only with purchase of the set.) After payment, we then found that they "had yet to be delivered in just one or two days?. They arrived 2 weeks later. We had also paid an additional $49.63 for the "permanent frame", tax, shipping & handling. When they talk about an a/c filter, they don?t include the frame, just the soft, shapeless mesh is $15 each. The new filters finally came labeled as 20x30?, but in fact measured 1/2" less on all four sides. This caused a very loud whistling noise. Tammy, manager of AFM, said that they "had made them smaller on purpose to be sure they weren't too big." I told her these shortened filters were not what we agreed to buy, they were noisy, and the air to be filtered actually flows around the edges. She refused a refund because I could "seal" the gaps with weather stripping. This plus to change the filter each time, the old dirty filter would be pulled out of the frame with your fingers and the new mesh filter would be pushed into all the edges. With my asthmatic, arthritic 67-years of age, this was not acceptable because I extremely stretch on my toes in a steep stairwell to replace the filters. The noise, the weather stripping, and the inconvenient frame stuffing was not the simple switching out of the filter described to me before purchase. Tammy initially said, ?OK, but I won?t refund the tax, shipping & handling costs?, and that I would also need to pay for the additional re-mailing back to her. Later, she reluctantly agreed to a full refund. The contractor who sold us the filters also charged us tax again on the tax paid, because I didn't see the itemized bill for the filters until they arrived. Tammy (AFM) called back twice to complain that ?it would cost her too much to ship" and to yet again say I should just pay for the shipping. With the refund she enclosed a letter saying: "I am including your refund. I also understand that you posted your frustration on Angie's List. I have not read your posting nor will I; I can only hope that nothing negative was written about my company...."
