RTown was very quick to return phone calls and showed up on time to do the work. It took a little longer than I had hoped to get them scheduled, but I guess that can happen if you do good work. They pulled a city permit, did the work, and called in the city inspector, who approved the work quickly. Here's where things went a little wonky, though. When the gas company came out to re-install the meter, they pointed out that the new gas line had been re-positioned such that their meter no longer fit. I had to get RTown out a second time to correct the line location so it could be connected to the gas meter. They couldn't make it back out right away, so yet another cold night with no heat. When they did come back, rather than just cutting the line that was too long and re-terminating it, they spent quite a bit of time trying to make what they had work. I never was clear why they couldn't cut the line and re-terminate it, but I suspect it was because they didn't have the tools or material to redo it on their truck. When they left, they didn't make sure the meter box closed correctly, and you guessed it, their somewhat whacky combination of elbows they used to compensate for the too long pipe hit the meter cover preventing it from closing, a violation of city code. At this point, I just wanted the heat back on, and I took a hacksaw to the meter cover to modify it a bit until it closed. By the time this was all done and I called the gas company back, I was told they were booked up for the day and I would have to wait yet another day for the gas to be reconnected. Was I happy with the work? Yes, for the most part, but there was a marked lack of attention to detail. If they had been more diligent about noting where the old meter connection was and took care to duplicate that location with the new line, I could have had the gas reconnected 3 days earlier. As an amateur, this might be something I would miss, but as professionals, they should have had the experience necessary to anticipate this.
Description of Work: Replaced 50 feet of gas line between meter and house.

This has been the 3rd time I have used R-town plumbing, which used to be G-town plumbing. A friend in Georgetown recommended him. My first time he fixed a toilet leak. He came that day and met me as soon as I got home from work, which was a relief, because I had let situation reach emergency status before looking for a plumber. He worked quickly and for a good price. I was especially pleased because he did not charge extra for driving out to my house, and many plumbers charge a certain amount just for appearing at your doorstep. A few months after that repair, I had him come and see what was wrong with another toilet that was not working properly. He removed the toilet, snaked the pipes, and showed me there was nothing wrong. He charged me very little for this because he said there was nothing to fix. He said I just need a new toilet, because mine was 30+ years old and hard water deposits etc. had collected in places that can't be cleared. He was right. A few months later I replaced all the old toilets in my house and my problems were solved. This most recent repair had become an emergency, because my upstairs tub pipes were leaking down through the downstairs ceiling. Gustavo quickly and calmly recognized the problem, which simply involved installing the equipment that came with my new tub/showter fixture. He sent employees to finish the job the next day after my tile was put in. They installed my new sinks rapidly even though I had not asked them to do so, but I realized that my own handyman was not a certified plumber, so I was happy to pay for the job even though it had not been originally authorized. I have had too many plumbing emergencies and have recognized the importance of a reliable, certified plumber when it comes to caring for a fixer-upper home. Gustavo's helpers were great, but not perfect. They left one sink valve closed and when I opened it so I could use the hot water, the valve leaked. Gustavo came the day after I called him about this. He arrived a little early. He fixed the problem, but recommended replacing the same type valves that also connected to the new sinks. I followed his advice, because by this point I trust him and feel like he knows his stuff.
Description of Work: * Repaired leak & installed new shower/tub fixtures (had to come back the next day after tile was installed to finish the job) * Installed new sinks and faucets and replaced a few small pipes * Fixed a leak under one of the new sinks and replaced old, faulty valve that was causing the leak --recommended replacing other 3 valves for sinks and I agreed, so he did. He also adjusted the hot water for the shower.
