They very much feel like family. I moved away from the area for a year, and when I called back to ask if we could re-establish care, they remembered the kids' names and their birthdays. They are absolutely wonderful! Part of the reason that I bought the house that I bought was so that we will be within their care. They feel like part of the family. There is no wait time. They have a great Saturday emergency care service so when kids get sick on the weekends, you can still see a doctor, and they have a very effective after hours phone line. My kids were born prematurely so they had a lot of complications early on, and I always called them before I headed for the E.R. and they would call ahead and let the hospital we were going to know what our issues were so we always got very, very prompt care at the E.R. as well. We have been going there for 8 years now.

They were recommended to me by family. I used them when I was pregnant with my first child. I liked what I saw. They were very friendly.

My now 6-year-old daughters have been going to Chisholm Trail Pediatrics since they were born, with the exception of a year when we moved away from the area. Having the chance to return as patients to this practice was a big factor in my deciding to move back to the suburbs north of Austin. We have seen Dr. Ramsay, Dr. Pickens, Sue and Susan, and each of them has been thoughtful, compassionate, and competent. Dr. Ramsay, especially, has the magic touch. When my girls were babies, they didn't even notice that he was examining them by the time he was done! I will be sad when my girls are too old to go to the pediatrician.
I have always felt comfortable asking for advice on matters of parenting, and never felt judged by the staff. My daughters are identical twins, and it makes an enormous difference to know that new staff will always take the time to learn how to tell them apart. I love how promptly my calls are returned, the degree to which the staff is willing to help (especially new) parents over the phone, and how quickly they can get us in for urgent appointments.
When my girls were 2, one of them took forever to eat. Instead of brushing off my concern as impatience, Dr. Pickens referred us to a speech therapist, who diagnosed her with dysphagia caused by macroglossia. I would have never even considered seeing a speech therapist, or that my daughter's tongue was too big for her mouth, but the therapy made a drastic improvement in our quality of life. When my girls got RSV, I was scared, but knew that they were in the best of hands, and I'm happy to report that after 2 years, we were able to give our nebulizers away!
When I called after a year's absence to ask for my girls be reinstated as patients, not only did Liz at the front desk know my kids' names immediately when I introduced myself, she even remembered their birthday!
They're amazing.

We go the Chisholm Trial for check-ups and whenever my child has been sick or has taken a good fall. They are always prompt and the staff is very friendly. My son loves the fish tank and the western themed play house in the waiting area. They have a few different doctors all with different personalities and ways of handling situations so you can find which one best suits your family. I like that they allow us to be a part of the decision-making process, whether it has to do with vaccines, antibiotic use, or just the overall parenting strategies. They didn't become overly concerned when my son's weight gain was not right on with the national average but instead asked us more about his eating and sleeping habits. They are very helpful, even when I just have a quick question over the phone. I have avoided many unnecessary trips to their office simply by calling and asking a question. They did send us to the ER one time due to a high fever that would not come down even after natural home remedies and over the counter meds were attempted. One time when we thought we probably should have gone to the ER we called them first and they reassured us that what our son was experiencing was normal (yes this is our first child). We enjoy this office very much and are so thankful to have them close to our home.

They also have several doctors on staff who specialize in kids with special needs (like ADHD, in my particular case). Very, very happy and highly recommend.

I am a physician and I treat my kids for minor conditions. But when my son had a worsening cough, delirium, and a fever progressing to over 105, I was in over my head. We went to Chisholm Trail Pedi, and were seen by one of their PAs. I thought the doc would have a look, but my son was relatively stable and I figured a pediatric PA should be fine. The PA examined my son and said she thought he had a virus and to just watch him and treat conservatively. Well, I treated a lot of sick kids in my primary care days and if I thought this was just a virus, I would not have paid $146 for a pediatrician. I talked the PA into writing for an antibiotic, and over the next day my son began to improve. (maybe it was the antibiotic, maybe it was a virus whose course had ended...who knows)
His cough was improved but still bothersome by the following afternoon, so my wife called to see if they could write for a cough suppressant for him. She made the mistake of calling at 4:53PM, 7 minutes before the office closed. The lady at the desk was miffed because of the hour. She talked with someone, came back and told my wife to take my son to the ER.
REALLY!
You are going to make my wife drive to the ER during rush hour and pay for an expensive visit because you are too lazy to write for a cough suppressant in a patient you thought had a virus and is now improving well! We did not go.
My son was still improving and the following day we get a call from the office insisting we take my son to get a chest Xray ASAP.
REALLY!
You did not want to order an Xray when his symptoms were at its worst in your office. Now when he is improving well, you want my wife to drive him to ARA in rush hour traffic to get an expensive Xray. We did not go. My son finished his abx and did well.
My impression is that they are more interested in defensive medicine than they should be.. In this day and age, I can hardly blame them. However, it was a major eye opener for me to see it first hand as a patient. An iritating one at that.
I think most laypeople would have graded this experience as a D (especially after getting the unnecessary ER and Xray bills). However, I know how hard running a busy medical office can be these days , so I will promote them to a C.
Also, somewhere in here, the doctor should have contacted us and he never did. I know how very busy he can be, but nobody likes to feel like their child is low priority even if they are.

We selected Dr. Ramsey due to close proximity. The checkup was smooth. We did not wait long in the reception room or in the patient room. We discussed our concerns about the mmr immunization and were amazed to hear that Dr. Ramsey supporting whatever decision we as the parents made regarding giving the shot to our child or not.
