I have a nice vet here who doesn't charge for anything that shouldn't be charged for. He's got so many people you can hardly get an appointment. There was no charge. She said, "I don't have an appointment, can you just bring him in at 9:30 and wait?" and so I did. He took thirty seconds and had no problem. You have to wait a little bit, but it's because they have so many people. He's going to retire one of these days and then I'm going to be up a creek. When I moved here a friend of mine told me about him. I went to a designer vet for a while, because I do love my animals, and then I thought I just can't pay this. The facility is old. They spend all their money on the animals and everything else. The decor is deplorable, but who cares?

My dog has had a large lump on her elbow for about a month. It didn't make her limp until yesterday so I decided to take her to the vet. This was our first visit. Dr. Tarleton's office was able to get us in the same day (this is not always the case). He examined her, and punctured the skin to drain off the fluid. He then sent us to the feed store to buy some meds because he would have charged more than they did since they buy more and get a better price. We are having her spayed in about two weeks and if it is not better, he will open it up while she is sedated. He did not charge us for the office visit which amazed and surprised me.
He is, unfortunately, a dying breed of vet. One who went into the business because he loves animals. He offers vet care at an unheard of price, and with compassion and love. He still makes a living and allows people to care for their animals. Yeah, his building is old. So what! It doesn't affect the quality of care.
I worked at animal hospitals for 8 years. I have a very good idea of what stuff costs, and I can tell you the other animals hospitals are gouging in a way that is unconscionable. Shame on them for being so greedy and making it practically impossible to afford a pet. They are the true reason that there are so many animals needing homes, not breeders. If people could afford health care for their pets, they would spay them and keep them.
If you want the million dollar facility and staff that acts like your pets are little humans, this isn't the place for you. If you want a knowledgable vet who actually sees a family pet and not dollar signs when he looks at your pet, this is the place for you.
Dr. Tarleton will have me as a client for as long as he is still in practice.
