Where to begin. I had intermittent power outages house-wide. I called A-Tex Electric and they sent out a repair person. I detailed the issue to the owner in advance via phone and text, so they knew what was needed. After arriving, the repair person went to determine the cause. Then, after a few minutes, he asked to go to the bathroom and stayed in there for nearly 20 mins. Then, after finishing, he went upstairs and I didn’t see him for quite some time. It turns out he was up there replacing four light sockets without telling me, so I never approved the work, and I didn’t need the work. He ultimately said I’d need to replace all of the sockets in the house (which were all functioning fine btw), but he couldn’t quote me a price. I then asked if he could do the work and he said he didn’t have time, so I asked him why he would come out if he didn’t have time to do a repair. Then, he claimed to have no idea how to estimate the cost even though he had worked for A-Tex for 12 years. According to him, he didn’t know if they charged by the service or by the time. We ended up calling the owner and getting a voicemail. Then he called back and we stayed on the phone for 10 mins while the repair person just stood there. Then he left saying he would get me a quote via email. Well, sure enough, I received a bill for the four socket replacement “repair” for $420! So they expect me to pay $420 for four sockets to be replaced, which I didn’t want, need, or authorize. I called the owner of A-Tex and told him I found the bill to be high and that I felt like I was being taken advantage of. He claimed they charge an hourly rate of $120 (which isn’t on their website, nor disclosed when I spoke with the owner), he charges for drive time, and he rounds up to the highest hour. Then you pay for parts. Of course, the 20 min bathroom break and 10 min phone call with the owner while the repair person stood there (just to get a quote for repairs!) was on the clock, unbeknownst to me. That bathroom break and phone call cost me $60! And that time triggered the cost of another hour or work even though it went into that third hour by a few minutes. Then the owner made my jaw drop when he said they couldn’t actually fix the intermittent outage because by the nature of the problem they can’t determine the cause since it likely wouldn’t happen while they were there. I asked him, “So you sent a repair person out knowing that the problem couldn’t be diagnosed and the repair couldn’t be done.” He said “yes,” and apologized. Ultimately I offered to pay $120 for the $420 since I didn’t want the work done, didn’t authorize the work, didn’t need the work, the repair person was there unnecessarily (by their own admission), and the bill was padded with a 30 min drive to my house, a 20 min bathroom break, and a 10 min phone call to the owner. To add insult to injury, in a later email with the owner he told me that he had a $240 minimum, yet another price consideration that was never disclosed (and would’ve kept me from using them) and that he would put a lien on my house if I didn’t pay. I would win in court because the work was unauthorized (and thus there was no paperwork showing that it was), but the effort of that would be too much. In that spirit, I’m writing this review to warn ANYONE that is thinking of using them that they will be screwed over with impunity. Buyer beware for certain. Don’t walk away from A-Tex Electric….RUN!

The technicians showed up 15 minutes early and immediately got to work. They installed the new overhead lights and checked out a breaker panel that was worrying me, and the install went great. When the CFL bulbs weren't the right color temp, Bruce happily swapped out the 2700K ones for much brighter 4000K the next day.
Bruce and the team over at ATEX Electric are true professionals. From the quality of the materials used, to the craftsmanship of the install, their professionalism shows. When I need a master electrician I wholeheartedly trust Bruce. This is my 5th time using his services.

Bruce was a little hard to get a hold of. Why? Because he is busy. Why? Because he is REALLY good at what he does. He did all the work requested within a few hours. I will DEFINITELY contact him again for any future electric work!! As a plus, he is a pleasure to deal with.

Bruce, owner of the firm, made the service call himself, evaluated the situation and went for the proper supplies. The replacement parts were correct but didn't operate my particular antique fan. He return to the supply source and got another switch, installed it and obtained satisfactory results. He was a pleasure to work with and it was apparent he wanted a satisfied customer. I have already assigned an additional project.

It went pretty well. They still haven't billed me, which is odd. I wasn't overly impressed with the breadth of their knowledge, but they seemed to do good work.

They arrived right on the agreed-to time. There were two people from A-tex. and as soon as I gave them the details on what was to be done, they went about thier work in a very coordinated fashion. It was obvious they had installed ceiling fans many time before. They were very efficient. Other than being a little more expensive than I expected, I was very pleased with the results. You get what you pay for!

I believe their service call was $79. They were personable and know exactly what they were doing. I was home alone and I felt safe with them. One was a trainee and he was working hard but he was good. Their responsiveness was fabulous. I couldn't turn the ceiling fan on again three days later and I had to call them back. They still charged me the service call but they came right away.

Bruce gave me a Good and fair estimate in as much or little detail as I needed. Ended up being a long list.
Didn't care that my list was simple (add an occupancy switch) to big items (ceiling crawl thru blown in insulation), Bruce took time and listened to my uneducated questions. Was given great advice and followed the recommendations
His team did great. After couple hours of hard work and finally trying to replace a ceiling fan and tracing an issue, it turned out to be a defective fan that I got from home depot (full refund). They did not give up until the issue was identified and helped each other with one knowing to ask the lead for help. They were professional and they took the time needed ! They even came back in 2 weeks to complete the install of the new fan I ordered. It is perfect.
I plan to have them back for the 2nd half of my fix it list on "my old house"
Thanks gentlemen and to the lady who is very nice and helpful on the phone.

I called the main number early a.m., described what was occurring, (all of the smoke alarms were alarming every 30-45 minutes. Bruce called me back immediately. I provided the symptoms and he diagnosed the problem. A price was given over the phone. Viola, he had his crew to the house by late afternoon, and replace the smoke alarms that were alarming since 330 a.m. intermittently.
I had a positive experience from the first hello of the receptionist/secretary to the last good-bye of the crew as they drove out of the drive.
I would recommend A-Tex Electric. I give Bruce and his team a resounding A+ and a vote of excellence.

The only problem we had with him, was getting him paid. We had him back, because he did good work. The first time he came out right away. But, we have had time getting him out for the second job. They do not accept debit cards, they would not let us pay right there, they said that we would receive a voucher and we never got the voucher, so we just ended up mailing in the money. He did a good job and the price was reasonable. We have asked him to come out again and we have not heard back from him. We will use him again.

They were excellent. They came and looked at the job and gave us a price a few days later. They came and spent an entire day and put in exactly what we asked them to. We got a ten percent off from the Angie’s List coupon.

A-Tex did a great job diagnosing and fixing a broken light switch that controlled the porch light. But this was not just a matter of replacing a switch. The previous home owner had hidden a remote control device that was wired into the electrical circuit that controlled the light switch. Apparently the previous home owner "MacGyver'ed" a home security setup from parts from radio shack and whatnot. Needless to say, I never would have found the hidden controller on my own. A-Tex figured it out fairly quickly and got it all straightened out.
