+ -1 moreI met with Brad Riley for an estimate, after 2 estimates with other contractors, and he was the only one who made some practical and honest suggestions about the extent of the repairs we needed done. While another contractor suggested we just "cover-up" the rotten wooden siding with Hardie Board to save us money, Brad recommended that the whole thing could be done properly for not too much more money. He and his crew of guys were always punctual, on schedule with the timeline for the project, and always very professional and honest. Brad was also on-site to check in every day or at least every other day while the project was going on. When a couple of unforeseen issues popped up (mini water heater needed to be installed, 220 electrical line added for future kiln hook-up), Brad was able to work with me and my budget to get all that I needed, completed. I now have a new, comfortable studio to work in and have natural light to work by!
Description of Work: Complete remodel of my garage into an artist's studio, while retaining garage functionality. The 1953 garage was original to the house and had never been finished out or upgraded. Water-damaged and rotten studs and sills were replaced, new support rafters were installed to "square" the structure, ceiling fan hung, Hardie Board siding was installed, and insulation and drywall were put in. Aged electrical wires were replaced, and a water line was extended to the garage to provide a utility sink for the studio. Two windows and a side access door were also installed, and then the entire studio was painted inside and out. Gutters and a French Drain were added to the garage structure toward the end of the project to prevent future flooding from run-off from the property next door.
