The first work day, two workers came out and took down the existing fence, set new posts and put up the main part of the new fence. The first issues we had were one, the inside horizontal boards were not installed level and are visibly off center and the workers built the fence far too high (1 foot to 1.5 feet higher than the original fence). It was so high that the post caps were digging into the underside of the neighbors house and the workers ended up cutting a big gouge into the siding of my own house due to carelessness. We found all of these issues after the two workers had left for the day (with no word to us regarding leaving or when anyone would be back)
I immediately sent my issues with pictures to my contact at the company and was told that he would get back to me very soon, two days later I contacted again to see if there was an update and the response was "They should have been there already"
I ended up contacting the owner of the company who said that she would come out that day to discuss the issues. When she finally showed up (late) she proceeded to tell us the issues were just how things were built (un-level boards etc) and completely ignore us. While I was trying to discuss these issues with the owner, the two workers decided to go ahead with work and cut the door far too high (since the fence still needed to be brought down 1.5 feet) and then couldn't be communicated with since they didn't speak English. That issue ended up being somewhat resolved as the workers cut down the fence height and then had to add back the boards that had already been cut off to the top of the door.
The last issue that was the biggest annoyance was the deadbolt and functioning door knob that I had been assured was something they could do (and was sent pictures of the hardware their 'shop' would be providing for the job). Instead the owner showed up with a deadbolt from Home Depot that she had just picked up and told me that the door knob was now something that wasn't going to work. The workers then struggled to get the deadbolt installed, hacking away at the wood on the door with a screwdriver to try to make it fit which they eventually succeeded with doing despite how bad the hack job looks. They also didn't install the lock far enough over so about 0.5"-1" of the inner lock mechanism is visible and not secured in the door.
So we are now left with a fence door that will lock but without the door knob or any other form of closure, the door has to be kept locked constantly so that it doesn't swing open and shut with every breeze.
This was honestly one of the most frustrating work jobs I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. The workers take lazy shortcuts and just do bad work since they don't have anyone overseeing them, the owner doesn't know anything about building and ignores any issues you bring up (all of the bad work on the deadbolt etc was done with the owner on site supervising and it was still horrible work) I only wish that I could upload some photos to show all the things that went wrong.
Maybe this company was better before there was apparently an ownership change, but now, I'd advise going with someone else for any fencing work. I'm just glad I tested them out first with a small section of fence, I'd hate to think of dealing with them for all these issues on a bigger job.
