He was familiar with our house and how it was built because he was in the neighborhood. The price was excellent. They could definitely use him.

Don complained and whined that he did not have enough money to buy groceries for his parents.  It was a mistake for me to give him $200 to help him, for he used this against me.   He wanted access to my home to use the bathroom--this, I'm sure, would have been expanded to allow other construction workers (unknown to me) access to my home.   Sheathing was purchased, however, Don stated that not using it behind the Hardie board siding was "standard", and he expected to return it to the builders supply for cash.   The City inspector required him to use it.   15# felt paper cost the same as 30#, but he wanted to use the "standard".   I do credit Don and his crew for generally arriving on time each day scheduled.  On the last day of the work, Don was left alone to complete the project.   He was so angry at being the last one on the job.   To me, the boss is supposed to be the last one to leave, so everything is completed correctly.  I think Don needs anger management counselling.   I have many pictures to back up my complaint of his poor craftsmanship, and documents about the specifics on engineering support of the foundation wall structure.   I suggest to anyone who would consider doing business with Don's Home Repair & Remodeling to put ALL services to be performed in writing.   Don quickly became angry and combative when I said to him that I wanted a second opinion from someone I could trust to look at some of his work.  A second opinion is normal in business when there are questions of performance.  He and his crew left a lot of trash at the job site.   Cigarette butts was thrown all over the back yard.  I suggest that anyone and everyone check for themselves about registration to do business in their city.
