DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! My wife and I had the misfortune of engaging DFW Remodeling & Construction, LLC (DFW) for a master bath and kitchen remodel. It was the remodel from ****. DFW said the entire project would require 3-4 weeks to complete and likely be finished by Thanksgiving. The job, due to DFW’s deceit, hostility, mismanagement, poor quality work and delays, required nearly 2 ½ months to “complete”, and still, the quality of much of the work was second-rate. Missed deadlines, sub-standard work, habitual lying and a complete lack of customer care. We thought we were contracting with a company that did quality work with honesty and transparency but that is not the case. The project began in October 2019 with demo of the master bath and kitchen which started well. They estimated that would require three days which it did. The demo crew left dishwasher and two ovens on the front lawn, then left. I called Aaron about this and he said “the city has a service that picks up old appliances”, which sounded implausible but I thought, why would he lie? Three days later I called to tell Aaron the ovens/dishwasher were still on our front lawn and he told me his boys would pick them up the next day. That did not happen. I moved the items to our driveway and after mentioning several times the items were still sitting on the property, he finally removed them. Other work, electrical, plumbing and drywall was progressing, but at a much slower pace than planned. We asked for some sort of schedule of work but we could never quite get a straight answer and most days, we didn’t know what work would be done until the night prior or morning of when a worker or two would show up. When the kitchen cabinets were delivered, they were a different shade than what we selected, which is a pretty big deal. I called bringing this discrepancy to Aaron’s attention, but we did not hear from him about this matter for 2 days. Upon viewing the sample paint and actual cabinet paint, he said we could paint the cabinets on site and try to match the sample but could not guarantee a match. We told him we would live with the existing cabinet color as we did not want any spray painting taking place in our kitchen. In hindsight, this was an omen of things to come. 3 ½ weeks into the project (and 9 weeks after making our quartz selection) Aaron sent a text indicating the quartz countertops would be installed that day. Coming home early from work, I discovered that the quartz which was brought into the house was not at all what we had selected, months earlier. DFW had attempted to switch our selection to something completely different. I immediately called Aaron and told him of the issue and he said to me, “no, it’s the same” when it clearly was not. I don’t know if he thought me stupid, but even a moron could determine the quartz sitting on our kitchen cabinets was not what we had selected. I had the installation stopped (as the DFW contract states, “owners shall conduct on site inspections and agree to immediately notify the contractor of any work that is not being completed per the specifications and material selections made by the owners. Failure to notify the contractor shall constitute acceptance of the materials and methods used). and told Aaron we would not accept the substituted countertops. Aaron later admitted, the quartz we selected was more expensive to DFW (him) due to shipping costs (but within our all included original quote from DFW) so they, in an attempt to save themselves money, without our permission or consulting us, switched the countertops. They finally did order the correct countertops (6 days later) after a few quite contentious and very uncomfortable face to face and phone conversations. Two of those phone conversations included hanging up on us when he became angry. After that, things went from not so great to dreadful. DFW slow rolled the remainder of the project, adding five (5) weeks to our remodel. It was clear, we were being punished. From that point forward, November 20th to December 5th, no work was done on our remodel. A project DFW said in the beginning would take a maximum of four weeks, actually lasted nine. Aaron, our “general contractor” at one point, did not visit the job site, our home, for 3 weeks. When we mentioned this in a phone conversation he said, “would it make you feel better if I were there every day? OK, I will be there tomorrow”. Communication was very minimal and mostly rude. Towards the end of the process, we were compelled to purchase items that we were told in the beginning of the project, would be included. Dimmer switches for lights, garbage disposal button, and extension cord for the dishwasher. Again, we were being punished. The last day, when DFW said the project was complete and expected payment. Upon reviewing the work, several issues had still not been resolved but at that point, we were so tired of being treated very poorly and paid the last of the draw schedule. Aaron said he would send workers to clean up the numerous large oil satins in our driveway and in the street caused by his company vehicles. He did not. He stood in our kitchen, waiting for the final payment, flat out lied to us saying he left touch up paint for our cabinets in our garage. He did not. He said he would send workers to clean and power wash our patio which had all manner of debris and stains from drywall, tile and grout work. He did not. He said he would send us a two year warranty certificate. He did not. I had intended to document all this in a few online reviews but honestly, we just wanted to put the entire episode in the rear view mirror and move on. However, the next two events have compelled us to voice how this company conducts business. In the freeze of 2021 we discovered, after having to cut into the refrigerator cabinet/wall, more extraordinarily awful workmanship. When DFW Remodeling and Construction’s plumber installed a new shut off valve to the water line for the refrigerator, he melted the insulation with is designed to prevent the line from freezing. So nothing was between the brick on the outside of the house and pipe, so it froze. Additionally, after the plumber melted the insulation, he was too lazy or ignorant of proper plumbing practice, he should have soldered the new fitting on to the pipe. Instead, he slipped on a Shark Bite. Naturally, with no insulation and a Shark Bite for the fitting, it leaked and caused significant damage to our hardwood floors. This was totally preventable if the plumber had replaced the insulation he melted and soldered the fitting instead of using a cheap, easy slip on fitting. The final straw. Four weeks ago, May 2021, our under mount kitchen sink fell in. Literally, fell in. Incredibly, the only thing DFW Remodeling and Construction’s installer used to secure the sink, was a bead of silicone and a few inches of epoxy smeared around the edge to secure the sink in place. So, the sink detached from the countertop, and fell into the cabinet. I contacted the company to inform them about the plumbing leak, damaged floor and the sink that collapsed but true to form, have never received a response. I am writing this review so anyone considering contracting with DFW Remodeling and Construction be aware of how, at least in our case, this company conducts its business. I only wish someone had done the same before we hired them.
