"Mr. and Mrs. [Consumer Name Removed], as in our previous response to your reviews, we stand by our clients to finish our work instead of leaving work undone for customers to fix on their own. That said, the 3rd party inspector's punch list has been completed with the exception of two blank plates that need to be installed on two junction boxes in the attic. Your project manager has been contacting you for over a month now to complete this task, and you have not allowed him to finish the job. Please respond to your project manager to get this scheduled. Once this is done, the 3rd party inspection's punch list is 100% complete. As always, please discuss any additional items with your project manager. Thank you."
"Good morning, Mr. [Consumer Name Removed], thank you for sharing your complaints. As a company, we took some time to gather our thoughts about your words, thoughts, and overall disposition. Google is very good at providing the history of reviews on companies as well as the reviewer's history on the type of reviews they leave. We can see this isn?t the first time you?ve berated a business nor will it be the last. Now we see you here on Angi. By all means, we have the grounds to share our thoughts on our customers, and the type of people they are behind the reviews with evidence, but frankly, we don?t have the time nor the desire to be that kind of company. Errors do happen in construction and yes, errors were made on your project. However, we never dropped the project, berated you as a person or just told you to figure it out. We don?t do that to our clients. For anyone reading our reviews and our comments (which we hope people are doing - we do that too), please reference Mr. [Consumer Name Removed] review and we will be more than happy to discuss in detail this project, what happened, and what we learned from this experience. As always Mr. [Consumer Name Removed], if you would like to have a sit-down talk that is calm, collected, and respectful, our door is always open."
"Good morning Mrs. [Consumer Name Removed], we hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend with your family. In response to your review, everyone at DMJ understands that you are frustrated. We work in a software called Buildertrend that allows us to capture all of our lead information and job communications and process. It helps us gain an accurate understanding of what is going on with our jobs. That said we have documented all interactions since May 11, 2022. Since we first received your lead information, we have conducted site visits, more than one proposal agreement, and have recorded all email communications to help move your project forward for more than 2 years. Upon signing our design agreement on May 6, 2024, we scheduled your on-site meeting for June 24, 2024. Yes, due to scheduling obstacles on DMJ?s end we had to reschedule this meeting and one other on July 8th. On July 8, 2024 you updated us that your next availability wasn?t until August 19, 2024. We understand that scheduling conflicts happen and we have been more than flexible to wait and accommodate your schedule. We also appreciate your flexibility to work with ours as well. That said, when August approached, DMJ reached out to schedule the next visit for August 19, 2024. An unexpected event happened on your end on August 14th and the meeting was rescheduled for later in the day of August 19th. On August 16th before we were able to do the site visit on August 19th, you canceled the meeting and wanted to terminate your agreement with us entirely. Within that contractual agreement, we refer to the Terms and Conditions, 1. Termination section. We are more than willing to continue forward with your project and would apply this amount to your project if you decide to resume. We also have always had an open-door policy at our office. You are more than welcome here and we encourage you to visit and have a sit-down conversation. Please let us know when you would like to schedule your visit. We wish you the best, DMJ."
"Here at DMJ Restorations, we accept any and all candid reviews and take each one seriously. Our goal is to deliver unparalleled building and remodeling services in an industry with many moving parts. Bringing them all together in a timely fashion with the right process and the right people is always a challenge but it is one we excel at and one that we are constantly improving. Unfortunately, not every client can be satisfied and this response represents our experience working with this client and their project. Construction on Mr. Roth project began during the middle of COVID in Oct 2021. The project was progressing smoothly until the windows and doors were ordered and we were notified that they would be significantly delayed. They ended up taking 19 weeks versus the normal 4-6 weeks. Once they arrived we lost another 10 days to a freezing weather event that shut down all of South Texas. Another time delay came when we waited another 10 days while Mr. Roth selected the paint color. We reached substantial completion in May 2022. Between supply chain, weather, and customer decisions we lost about 22 weeks yet still finished the project in 7-8 months. This timeline is thoroughly documented in our building management software with corresponding communication. Unfortunately, Mr. Roth punch list lasted almost as long as construction due to never being satisfied. This moving target substantially accrued the cost that DMJ absorbed. He was never charged for the growing list except for an engineering requirement. All work completed was well within the Texas Association of Builders Express Limited Warranty performance standards for workmanship. Despite an acknowledged imperfectly written scope (after which we instituted significant improvements to give clarity and transparency to our customers - we do learn from every project), we gave Mr. Roth the benefit of the doubt on every issue and again he was not charged except for an engineering requirement (as mentioned previously) that would allow us to build on his existing slab. Per engineering requirements, we had to make changes to the existing slab or we could not utilize it for his desired purpose. This was an acceptable change order for Mr. Roth and was received well. With this being the only change order, the remaining changes demanded by the client were quickly becoming exorbitant but were still absorbed regardless. A hard-line had to be drawn or we would still be doing change orders. Our summary of our experience with this project and working with Mr. Roth is one of reflection and growth. The subcontractors that we have been working with for more than 7 years finally refused to work on Mr. Roth project after their experience on-site with the owner. We had to finish with different crews. We are dedicated to full transparency and have no problem discussing previous projects with future clients - even the tough ones. Not all clients can be satisfied. Yes, they write disgruntled reviews but we respectfully wish the best for Mr. Roth and for him to enjoy his beautiful casita. We stand by our commitment to honor all of our clients, even the ones for whatever reason pose a challenge. We make a promise to continually provide exceptional service, and perform and complete our work with excellence and attention to detail even for those clients who find the process challenging."
