VARGAS HOME REPAIR

Mr. Vargas showed up on time and began work immediately.  I came into the room where he was working and he was SMOKING in my home.  When I told him that was unacceptable, he stepped out onto the porch from which the smell came in the house.  Unacceptable.  He hammered on my expensive storm door which will now have to be replaced - this was not part of the job he was asked to do.  I would not ask him to do interior work, as his idea of what qwuality materials to use and mine are different. You must tell him exactly what you want done and then stay right there and supervise to make sure it does get done the way you want it.  Read the rest of his reviews and you will understand.

Every time Mr. Vargas came to the house he was polite as were his workers. He will come out and give free estimates. He was very fast at everything he did for us. The fence is my pride and joy. He screwed the boards on instead of nailing them. All is holding up and his work speaks for itself.

He was on time and completed the work in a timely manner. He stuck to the quoted price. The repair of the drywall inside the house was great, and doesn't show. I was not even able to tell where the repair had been done. The outside wall was a much more difficult fix since it is cedar shingle siding. That area is still obvious, and not the seamless fix that I had hoped it would be. However, it is not an eyesore, so it's acceptable if not great. We had hoped the price would be less than larger companies, but the original quote was for more. Mr. Vargas was willing to meet and beat his competitors' quotes, but not by much. Still, we will try him again for any future needs.

He was very responsive with the quoting, even though because it was around the holidays, everybody else was slowing down. His quote was not the highest, and definitely not outside the range of the other ones I received. But he was the only one that inquired details from the drawings and contacted me on the phone.

We ended up postponing the work, because we never expected the barbeque area to be that expensive, which it is because it requires a good mason to do the job. But his price was fair, and because of his professionalism, I will request his services in the future.

I contacted Mr. Vargas after my neighbors had him do some work. I was very impressed at his work ethic and that he continued on Saturdays. I had a bunch of odds and ends that have been needing attention for several years, so I finally called him up. My wife walked him through and his estimate for the repairs was $1200 so we told him to get started. Unfortunately, she left a few things out (including replacing and hanging a door for one). Once I got the chance to tell him, I was pleasantly surprised at his raised bid. I am overall just astonished at the work I got from him for the price I paid.
Now for the caveats:
The work he did for me was all exterior and will never go down in the annals of craftsmanship. It was, however, all good solid carpentry and should last many years. His choices of materials didn't always match mine, but once consulted and corrected there was no problem. Tell him EXACTLY what you want and you'll get what you asked for.
This man deserves more work!
