Along with the other negative reviewer, I feel that Truly Nolan does not want to be in the termite control business. Poor communication and failed promises about reducing the price due to the poor communications, I was a fool not to fire this company and go with a local company that would have done the job for half the price (and a lot of the realtors on Galveston appear to use).
The best thing I can do at this point is suffer through the contract for pest control and switch at the end of the year and to make sure that the review on Angie's list helps others decide not to use this company.
We are sending this email in regards to the services Truly
Nolen is under contract with us to perform.
In March 2011, during remodeling we discovered termite damage in rooms
on the east side of our home. We looked
around and saw Truly Nolen had a good score on Angie?s List so we made an
appointment for an inspection which later lead the treatment.
The inspector drew up a treatment plan and when the tech
came to do the job, he refused to drill and foam the peers under the house
which was called out on the plan and only did the perimeter peers. After leaving, I called the inspector and he
in turn had the tech come back out and finish the job.
In February 2012, we decided to replace all the carpet with
laminate flooring throughout the house so we contracted a flooring company to
do the job. When they got into the east
side rooms, they found active termites in the same rooms that was treated
during the initial visit. We called
Truly Nolen to come out and address the problem. The tech trenched and treated the peers on
the east side as well as some under the house.
He also brought some equipment in the house and sprayed the affected
area and while doing so, sprayed chemical all over what new flooring had been
laid. The flooring contractor had to
clean this up before continuing to keep it from getting into the joints and
causing water damage to the joints. The damage the returning termites caused cost
us $900 in repairs to the sub floor before the flooring contractor could
finish.
Sometime around January 2014, I was trimming the hedges on
the east side (in front of the rooms that had all the damage) and noticed
tunnels going up the same peers that had been the problem before. Not knowing when I could get someone out, I
sprayed the area with Bengal. When the
tech showed up, he said they weren?t active and when I told him what I done, he
said he would re treat the area.
Each time the inspection was done, is was noted there was no
activity and some inspections were done where the inspector didn?t come inside
the house.
In September 2014, I contracted the floor company to address
a soft spot in the kitchen floor. After
taking the laminate up, extensive activity was discovered to the sub floor and
cabinet bases along with evidence up the east wall of the kitchen. All the floor in the kitchen, laundry room
and part of the dining room had to be taken up so the sub floor could be
replaced.
I again checked the two peers on the east wall which gave us
trouble before and sure enough, there was active tubes going up these
peers. I had called the inspector out
again and when he came, he looked at only the kitchen and the two peers and
said he would schedule a re-treat. He
said he didn?t have a crawl suite so he couldn?t inspect under the house.
When the technicians showed up on Saturday, they were
misinformed that there were only the two peers to be treated along with a spot
in the kitchen. They ended up spending
over 4 hours under the house and drilling the walls in the kitchen, dining room
and three back bedrooms where we found activity. When drilling the walls they were having
trouble injecting chemical and I noticed they were drilling only 1 inch down
from the ceiling into the top plate.
When I pointed this out, they said they don?t know how walls are built
so I suggested they move down 3 inches to miss the top plates which they did
wand was able to inject without it blowing back out of the hole.
