Terrible. This man is a thief. He doesn't do any work at all. He shows up to measure. Then writes up a contract, has you sign it, asks for all the money up front (says he is broke, in trouble with the IRS can't make his house payment, doesn't know what he is going to do, and really needs the work..he will continue to say how he really needs the work and could you make the job worth his while, and asks if you will add more to the repairs or remodeling so he can make a little more...says it will really be helping him out.) After he asked me to write him a check for the full amount, he suddenly says he notices he made some mistakes on the contract and he will have to rewrite it. He stated he had to go home to get another form. He never came back. He went straight to my bank and cashed the check. After he did not show up for 2 weeks I was able to reach him on the phone. He lied and said he would be positively start work in 4 days but he first had to do his taxes. Of course he did not show up so I called him again and told him I wanted a refund. He told me "F* and he had decided after much thought over the last few weeks that the screen doors I wanted installed could not be done because he could not figure out how to make them look good" He said he would return my money for that part of the contract but then he went on to say "I have decided I am going to sue you for even more money. I know the law. You can not break a contract." He bragged that he had changed the wording of the contract that I signed and he had taken off with to allow him to start and finish on the dates that he will decide. He acted as if this was not a job that he was hired to do, but a contract that allowed him to extort money from homeowners and that he knew a law that would allow him to do this. I will be taking this con artist to court. He should spend time in jail ..what he does is nothing more than out and out theft.
Description of Work: He was supposed to install 2 screen doors and built 2 cedar planters on the deck, replace a porch light fixture, and re-calk a very small area in the shower. He said the cedar was expensive and he had no money of his own to purchase any materials. He quoted me $5900.00 told me I had to give him the money up front, and he would go and purchase the materials. He did go get two screen doors but they were not even close to matching in design the one I had and they were white, when I had asked for black. I told him he would have to take the doors back and get the correct doors. I called the hardware store and they confirmed they did have the doors I needed and in the color I wanted also. Mike McGehee left again to go purchase the materials but he never returned.
