"[Member name removed], We want to thank you for your business and your review. Thank you, Chimney and Wildlife Specialist Team!!"
I asked Chimney and Wildlife Specialists for an estimate. Â Josh arrived and identified new areas of access that the previous contractor hadn't sealed. Â He agreed to reseal the previous work as well as seal the newly identified areas for $1,200 less a discount for Angie's List customers.
I asked about some tuck pointing I needed done (brick work) but it wasn't something they could help with. Â Josh promised alternate names but I never heard back.
Once scheduled, Josh arrived back at the house and did all the promised work. Â I think Josh did a much better job both identifying areas of entry and sealing them than the previous contractor. Â There cost was easily double that of the former contractor but the job was done right.
Only minor complaints:
1) They were supposed to return 3 times to check the traps. Â They only came back once and no rats were found. Â I would be fine with them waiting longer for the second round and then not returning again... but they should have told me rather than just not show.
2) Josh never responded with alternate names for someone to do tuck pointing with color matching of the mortar. Â Even a response of "I couldn't find anyone to do the work" is better than saying you will do something and then not.
3) In one spot the foam sealant expanded to become a blob on the front of my house. Â Everywhere else it was well applied where it didn't stick out so much.
In spite of these minor complaints I am in general satisfied with the work done. Â I would use their services again.
"I'd like to take a minute to respond to this review. There are so many portions of your review that simply are not factual. To start, when you called and requested our service we quoted you $129.99 plus tax for the cleaning and inspection. That price is extremely competitive as some companies in our industry charge up to $179.99 for that same service. When the tech showed up to do the cleaning it was raining so he was not able to get on the roof to do the visual inspection of the chimney. That portion of the job only takes anywhere between 3-5 minutes to complete. The tech told you he could come back at a future date and do this simple task. He never told you he would do any repairs to fix the bee and wasp problem you where having as this would NEVER be included in the price of a cleaning. It proceeded to rain almost everyday the following week which made it difficult to do this. My technician did call you several times and also text you. When you called the office to complain I called you as soon as I received the message. I did offered to come out, but this was before I knew that my tech had already been out there to do the very simple inspection of the chimney stack. He took a picture and sent it to me. I then texted that picture to you to show you that we had been out there. I also included a picture of a custom chimney cap that would fix your problem. I immediately called you and left a message. When you called me back the next day I explained that I had all the information I needed to recommend a fix to your problem. Multiple times I offered to come out there and explain to you, in person, my findings. Multiple times you continued to put words in my mouth, my technicians mouth, and my secretaries mouth. Your situation was not an easy fix. In order to solve it a custom chimney cap would need to be installed to block out the wasps and bees. This job would usually cost $650. In a gesture of good faith I offered you that same job at $450. When you scoffed at this I offered to refer you to 3 other companies, that were reputable, to price check my more than reasonable estimate. At NO time did anyone from my company ever misrepresent themselves and tell you we could or would fix your wasp problem with the price of a chimney cleaning. The chimney was cleaned and inspected at a fair price. What we quoted you was done at the price we quoted you. If you didn't like my proposed fix than that's one thing, but to accuse us of anything unethical is irresponsible and wrong. You wrote this review on June 18th less than 24 hours after we spoke so unless you had other companies come out and give you additional quotes I don't know how you can judge whether my estimate was accurate or not. It may have been more than what you wanted to spend, but again that doesn't make us "not nice." Our "true colors" show through the multitude of positive reviews here on Angie's List. Respectfully, Tony Darrah Owner Chimney & Wildlife Specialist"
