We have been using Dr. Hendon for years. He is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain things to us.
When my Belgian Malinois was sick a couple of years ago we went to multiple Vets that diagnosed him with growing pains, hip dysplasia, something in his intestine, etc. Dr. Hendon was able to determine that he had myasthenia gravis and saved his life. Today with the help of his medicine, he is an active and healthy 3 year old dog.
I wouldn't trust anybody else with my dogs.
All interactions have been excellent.
Had they done the barium, they would have found the bowel obstruction that ultimately ruptured his colon, and killed him. Had they just told me, and quot;we're closing, we don't have time to do a barium, but you need to take him to an emergency hospital, and quot; - or chosen to keep him, instead of sending him home - or just given an inkling of a suspicion he might have a life-threatening condition - he might just be alive. But he's not. I took his body to another animal hospital, and they offered to send it to Aand M for necropsy. It was comforting to know he DIDN'T have Parvo, as my other puppy would have been at risk. But disheartening to know that his death could have been prevented.
"We recently noticed the comments made by the Member regarding the care her puppy received at our hospital. The visit took place on March 16, 2012 at 11:30 in the morning. Her puppy was referred to our practice for radiographs which could not be taken at her regular veterinarian’s clinic. She reported that the puppy had started vomiting that morning and had not eaten for the past few days. Our exam showed no abdominal pain, that the patient was not dehydrated, but we did find he had a slightly loose stool. We performed a parasite analysis which was negative. Radiographs were also performed and we advised the owner that there were multiple densities present in the stomach suggestive of food or a foreign body such as stuffing from a dog toy. The intestines were slightly folded on the left side in one view, but not evident in the other view. No distinct obstructions were found. A parvovirus test was performed and came back as low positive. Our parvo tests are made with a quality control indicator that verifies the test ran correctly. We discussed these results with the owner and decided to send the puppy back to her regular veterinarian for further treatment. The owner was provided with a copy of the medical history and a disc that contained the images of the radiographs taken at our facility. We did not treat this patient or make any recommendations regarding this patient since she was only here for radiographs and had never been to our hospital before. We never heard from the owner again and where saddened to hear about the passing of her pet from this website. The referring veterinarian was in charge of the treatment of this puppy. I think the owner has confused us with her other veterinarian that made the treatment recommendations."
