When I met with the member and his husband back in September of 2007 we discussed their desires and needs in depth. We spent about 1 ½ hrs in our initial consultation. We had great rapor and all parties were excited to see the “Vision”. Since this was a large project construed as a master plan I informed the members there would be a $200 consultation fee and an $800 design fee. I told them the fees were for as many designs as it would take to create their dream backyard. At that time when asked about a budget they said they didn’t really have one, rather they were more interested in creating their paradise and if need be they would do it in stages. This is always a problem as a designer. Without a budget to work within our minds create a project on a grand scale which is what we did here. On October 6th we met with the first and final plan. Both were astounded by the design. I spent approximately 30 hours on the conception and about another 10 in pre engineering and the estimate. As I told the client we would break out the bid based on our 20 divisions we use within Vision Quest. As member states in his report I quoted his $300,000 for a swimming pool. Let me break it down as both viewed the proposal. At that time I hadn't received a penny for my time and informed the member that I would forward him the invoice. I sent it out November 15th 2007 and didn't receive payment until almost Christmas. I'm not real sure why the member felt compelled to file this report 18 months after our proposal and estimate was given. We exceeded expectations, fully completed our commitment and timelines with this client and went above and beyond the call of duty, again as we do with all our clients. It's always disconcernting when a client or potential client is unhappy with our service. I've been in buisness for 10 years. Never been sued, never had a law suit, never had a complaint with the BBB and never had an unhappy client who we did work for.
