Mitchell Deweese Masonry

After doing some brick work and putting in a small flagstone patio, we asked Mitch to put one in our front patio. He asked for a deposit of $400 for supplies. Reluctantly gave him the cash as he did a good job repairing bricks and the patio also came out well. However weeks went by and excuse after excuse as to why he couldn’t come. We asked for the money back or for him to just at least start it. He promised he would come. Never did. We finally gave up and hired a crew that were on time and did a fabulous job! Never never hire this guy! He seemed nice and honest . Well, that was deceiving. Wish I had read these reviews before we hired him. Grr.

Mitchell Deweese and Kerry Deweese were referred to me by someone who had used them before. They signed a proposal to extend our patio with flagstone for $2,800, half to be paid upfront for materials. After being paid the deposit, they eventually came to dig up some dirt, but they never delivered any materials and never came back again. I sued and was awarded a judgment, which they have not paid. Avoid them at all costs.

We were referred to Mitchell & Kerry Deweese by a reliable source. We previewed their work on an existing home and liked what we saw. The bid was $5000. We were asked, prior to seeing a sample to deposit $500.00 to reserve a spot on their schedule, he wanted cash, we gave Mitchell a check. Ten days later, Mitchell left a very large sample on our brick, we would have liked to have had more than 1 choice & perhaps add tint to the mortar, he stated that this style would be best. He then asked for another cash payment of $1000, we were reluctant but gave him a check. We approved the sample and he & his Dad were to start on Monday. Job was delayed, then the weather turned bad for 1 week. Our “sample” turned an odd color, due to the rain. which alarmed us as the Schmear was to be almost solid. The work continued to be delayed, we were given 8 start dates and still no work was done. We decided to cancel the work & asked for a refund. We were NEVER told that our deposits were not refundable. We are currently in a dispute with both Mitchell and Kerry Deweese over their refusal to remove the Schmear sample and refund our deposit. Kerry Deweese signed a promissory note and returned $400, however he and Mitchell have made excuses since then. I have learned that many other people have had issues with the Deweese’s. If you do hire them, be wary and have everything in writing. Know that you will never receive a refund for work not started.
