Barrier Plus

I found the company, Xact Remodeler, from a Living Social Deal that offered painting of a 12X12X10 room for only $85. I had a room about that size to paint, so I thought I would try it out. Even if the job weren't perfectly done, the offensive paint in the room would be covered. I called the number listed and spoke with a man named Joe, to explain that my ceilings we just a little higher than 10 feet and to ask how much extra it would be. He agreed to do the room I had for that price, and I paid him $132 over the telephone with my credit card. That amount was to cover the $85 plus two cans of Glidden paint. The charges appeared on my credit card statement as Barrier Plus and the emails from Joe came from admin@barrierplus.com, which is why that is the company name I've listed in the review. The crew came, was very respectful and did a good job. They told me that the room needed another paint because of the string color underneath and I agreed, and was told that I would be charged another $85, plus paint. I was happy with the result and spoke with the project manager, Joe about doing some other work. He looked at my other rooms, gave me a verbal quote and this is when the trouble started.I could never get a call back about the continuing work, and the second charge was for $132, so I don't quite understand why I needed an additional two cans of paint. Four gallons of pain for a 12X12X12 room seems excessive. I wrote an email back to Joe asking to understand why I was charged so much for paint and why I never got a call back to schedule the additional work and never hear back. I guess that in the end, the room is painted and the total cost is reasonable, even though I believe the total cost was padded to make it a more economical deal for Xact Remodeler. I rate this overall experience a C, but I will not recommend them to anyone. On another note, the paint that was used was so smelly, that no one could sleep upstairs for three nights following. Even with completely opening all the windows during the day.
