They did finally show up, three hours late. They cut down the second tree. Grinding the stumps is not included in the removal price. When I pointed out some remaining limbs I had talked to John about originally, and were included in the original price, they cut them off, but acted like I was asking for additional services.
They had to disassemble part of the fence and did a good job of putting it back together. They also left their empty drink containers all over the yard.
Frustrating!! We paid John upfront for landscaping and planting services, to prepare for a party we were having. They were delayed by the recent rains, but finally showed up the day before the party. They dropped off some plants, planted some flowers, but left several large plants unplanted. Some of the flowers were not even placed in the soil, they were put in place and they pushed mulch around them. That was two weeks ago. He said we would come this past Wednesday, again a no show. Avoid this company at all costs. He took $3000 and did maybe a $1000 worth of work and materials.

I gave John Bernhard, the owner of Arboriculture Services & John Bernhard Landscape Design, a $19K deposit. He failed to complete the work, would not return my phone calls and refuses to provide a refund. John was originally engaged to build an outdoor structure with a fireplace and landscaping. His crew ran out of concrete when pouring the fireplace foundation. John refused to correct the issue which was inspected and determined to not be acceptable by a building engineer. John's solution
was to simply pour an additional 2 inches of concrete on top of the original base - all professionals consulted said this was a terrible idea. After this, John was terminated from the original contract but had a $19K deposit. John refused to refund the money so we agreed that he would do the landscaping portion of the project only for that amount of money. John then refused to take my phone calls and never completed the work over a 6 month time frame. I have documentation and pictures of the work as well as emails and texts that clearly show the incompetence and unethical nature of business practices. I hope others do more research
before doing business with him.
I offered John the option of going to mediation to settle this issue but he rejected that as well. It looks like taking him to court is my only option of getting my money back.
