Fred Twyman of Friendswood Roofing and his two crewmen did an outstanding job. They did a very professional job. I?ve used a number of roofing companies and seen a number of roofing repairs and replacements in my time and have even done a couple of roof replacements in my younger years but have not seen someone take the time and put in the effort to do a job as well as Friendswood Roofing has done in a long time.
What surprised me about Fred and his crew was the fact that they did all the work using hand tools. When they were replacing the rotted decking and when installing the felt and all the new asphalt shingles they used hand hammers to drive their nails,  not a pneumatic nail gun. They were very careful to insure that all the nails were driven into the sub-roof and that all the plywood decking was securely nailed to the rafters. In the decking that was not replaced,  they pulled all the old nails which had rusted and were allowing water leakage and then secured the decking with new nails. And a real mind shocker was the fact that where each piece of plywood decking met at the corners, Fred and his crew used a 1 foot square piece of sheet metal to secure the corners to each other. This was to insure that the decking would not separate during expansion and contraction from temperature changes. Another surprise was the fact that they replaced the old exhaust turbine with a ridge vent. I was going to ask if this could be done but Fred said it was his standard procedure to install a ridge vent when replacing a roof. The vent is so much more efficient at removing heat from the attic.
Another thing that impressed me was the effort the crew took to insure that the mating of the shingles on my roof and the two adjoining roofs was as seamless as possible, using chalk lines to make sure the runs were as straight as possible. And where the shingles mated on each roof Fred?s crew used an asphalt sealant to insure the mating was secure and the shingles would not separate.
They were very meticulous in keeping the area clean and especially paying close attention to keeping nails from being left behind. The used a large magnet to sweep for nails each time they came off the roof.
All in all Friendswood Roofing did an outstanding job. They were on the job early each day and stayed late to get things wrapped up as fast as possible. I think they were concerned about the quality of the job they were doing as opposed to the 'get done quick attitude' you see with most contractors now. I hope we will keep them in mind when we need roofing work done.
I highly recommend Fred Twyman and Friendswood Roofing not only for their attention to detail but also for their very competive pricing. I feel I got a real bargian for the work and effort that was given to my roofing replacement.

They were awesome! Did an inspection, found the problem & gave me OPTIONS that considered quality & budget & there was no pressure sell. When I asked about replacing it, they told me the roof still had a good 3 to 5 years of life. They spent time educating me on how to monitor life & plan for the new roof. Terrific firm & group of people!

There was still work to be completed on our house (lead pipe jack was to be painted) and gap between roof and eve was to be fixed. Both of which were never finished after they came out the second time to fix the pipe jacks. As per the service contract that I signed, payment was to be due upon completion, but since the work was unfinished, I was waiting until they finished to pay the remainder of our bill with them. I tried contacting Friendswood Roofing, for about a month in October of 2009 and did not have anyone return my phone calls. I have left messages for the representative whom we were working with, Jason R. I also had left messages for Bubba (number given to me by the answering service). I left messages with the answering service. I left at least two or so a week for about the last 4 weeks. I finally had to send a certified letter to the owner saying basically that I have been trying to contact them multiple times, but have yet to receive a call back and that I would be happy to pay once the work was complete. FINALLY that letter helped me to get a response from the owner. He personally came out with a crew to finish and I paid him. They did a good job, however, I should not have to work that hard to pay someone for the job they did. He said that the person I was working with just had a baby, and that he was very busy. I get it, I have kids.... but over a month leaving about 15 messages in total... someone should have called me back! Quality was good, but the whole aspect of doing business with them was tiring. One additional thing... the owner did take about $300 off our bill just because of the trouble that we had.

I contacted Friendswood Roofing and Building and arranged for a date and time to get an estimate. Fred ( the Owner) arrived promptly and got to work right away. I estimate I received was more than reasonable. Fred's crew set to repairing the roof immediately ( A blessing in disguise. It began to rain steadily soon after! ).
The workmanship, attitude, price and clan up were all great. Thank you to Fred and the crew from Friendswood Roofing and Building and to Angie's List for a job well done!

They did a very good job, I am very happy with it. They were upfront, there were no hidden costs or fees. They did what they said, were on time and cleaned up very well. I would recommend them. I would absolutely hire them again.

It took two or three days for the contractors to install the roof, which came with a 30-year warranty. They used a composite and it looks great. They cleaned up well and did not leave any mess in the yard to speak of. All the people we dealt with were polite and considerate.

My roof received some hail damage and the insurance company told us to have it replaced. We called Friendswood roofing to do the replacement. The house is only one story, and the men took about two and a half days to tear the old roof off and put the new roof on. The work was done in a timely manner but they weren t very careful around the shrubbery and some of the shrubbery had gotten old shingles dropped on it.
