Paula has helped me several times when I wanted to redecorate or remodel parts of my home. She helped me with everything from a kitchen remodel to selecting paint colors, floor covering, and fabric for reupholstering the sofa. Paula always presents options as well as design expertise. By using her services I found that I can make bolder choices than I would on my own, as I have the confidence that it will all come together in the end.
I also save both time and money by working with Paula. I am a busy professional and I don't have a lot of time to shop. Paula will take me to the places that have the best selection in a variety of price ranges. For example, when I redecorated the family room I wanted to change the walls and reupholster the sofa. She showed up on time at 10am, and we discussed the options. Then she helped me select a new paint color, and we went to shop for upholstery fabric. She took me to fabric stores (that I would not have found on my own) that had wonderful selections of fabrics in a variety of price ranges. I ended up selecting a unique fabric at a very reasonable price. By 2pm we were finished. What would have taken me months to accomplish on my own by shopping only on Saturdays, we were able to do in just 4 hours. I recommend Paula for her professionalism, expertise, and overall excellent service.
She also went on and on (seriously) about a decorative window we have at the front inside of our home that the home builder tends to put in their homes. We re in a development so we didn't design our home per say. She just went on and on about how it was the "dumbest thing she'd ever seen". Ok......thank you very much Paula. She really shouldn't criticize her clients homes.
Knowing how to transition colors was very important but not worth $250. I probably could have learned this but searching on the internet.
"I'm very sorry that Client didn't like the colors that she chose; that was a year ago and this is the first I have heard of it. To be clear, I DO NOT choose colors for clients. I take them through a multi step process, during which they must have chosen any given sample five times, under different conditions, for it to become the 'winner'. I NEVER make the selections because people see color differently; some don't see the nuances and some like unusual combinations. Color is very personal so the client must be the one who actually chooses. Again, I am very sorry that she didn't like her choice."
You need to allow some time in making appointments with her because she is pretty busy and has to plan her time in San Antonio since she lives in Fredericksburg now.
We plan to get her assistance in seeing what existing furniture can be kept and which should be replaced. We also plan to have her help us pick any new furnishings and accessories.
The furniture in the Great Room she suggested we keep and made some suggestions in furnishing the room. All excellent ideas! The rug which was originally in the dining room is now in the den and looks fabulous. When we discussed a guest bedroom which had only a king size mattress set in it, she came up with some incredible ideas. We were considering donating some very nice signed and numbered framed prints by an artist from the hill country which were also almost four decades old. We really hated to get rid of them. Paula suggested using all eight of them above an upholstered headboard and suggested placement of a couple of pieces of furniture. We are in the process of getting that done and can't wait for it to all come together and see the end result.
What impressed us about Paula is her appreciation for good furniture. No need to replace it. Just some fabulous decorating tips and our home is already looking great. She even got us interested in checking out antiques!
She also introduced us to additional personnel who have helped us with landscape, window coverings, closet organizers (elfa) etc.
She has kept her meetings with us efficient and therefore cost effective - Paula works very well with us and understood after our first meeting exactly what we needed and how our short time here makes getting everything done and ready to go back on the market critical.
Make certain that, like us, you think about why you need a designer, what your primary goals are in building/remodeling, and what you really have as a budget - if you have specific likes and dislikes, these will be helpful to discuss with the designer up front and save you time and expense. This will help keep the time you spend with designer to a reasonable level and make your remodel more cost effective.
Paula has been personable, knowledgeable, focused on our goals, has provided exceptional tips and guidance on how to achieve what we are doing.
She has been helpful on many fronts as we progress on the remodel, offering advice as we go on how to restructure the master bath, guest bath and new powder room; not to mention the Pantry, garage entry way, etc.
the flooring in the house. The thought of putting down flooring that was high quality but did not hold up color or texture wise with what was
already there was not an experience I wanted, so I called Paula. We spent almost two hours looking through luxury vinyl tile and, when I
kept going back to one particular one, we agreed that it was ?the one.? Not only do we have a high quality luxury vinyl tile in three rooms, it
looks perfect with the Saltillo tile that it sits next to. Paula is a delight to work with. She?s very calm and listens well. I have used Paula before, and she has always kept me from making choices that I would have regretted, and I have always been delighted once her projects come together.
