It couldn't have gone better. Paula is very practical, and she works hard to help you have what you want without spending a lot of money. She will respect your tastes and not impose a lot of unnecessary rules. A consultation with her is like having a chat with your favorite sister! After she leaves, you will have a smile on your face!

Paula is a real pleasure to work with. She listened attentively and provided a number of clever options for improving our living space without incurring a lot of expense. Having a workable design was well worth the price. This will save us thousands. We will definitely use her again!

My husband and I never do anything around our house without consulting Paula, from a kitchen remodel, to furniture/art selection and arranging, to this exterior paint job.  I specifically said that Paula helped us "plan" rather than just "select paint colors", because she also spent a lot of time suggesting how to use the various colors to highlight the attractive parts of our house (and camouflage the less attractive ones!)  As always, the end result was even better than we had hoped for.

Paula has helped me several times when I wanted to redecorate or remodel parts of my home. She helped me with everything from a kitchen remodel to selecting paint colors, floor covering, and fabric for reupholstering the sofa. Paula always presents options as well as design expertise. By using her services I found that I can make bolder choices than I would on my own, as I have the confidence that it will all come together in the end.
I also save both time and money by working with Paula. I am a busy professional and I don't have a lot of time to shop. Paula will take me to the places that have the best selection in a variety of price ranges. For example, when I redecorated the family room I wanted to change the walls and reupholster the sofa. She showed up on time at 10am, and we discussed the options. Then she helped me select a new paint color, and we went to shop for upholstery fabric. She took me to fabric stores (that I would not have found on my own) that had wonderful selections of fabrics in a variety of price ranges. I ended up selecting a unique fabric at a very reasonable price. By 2pm we were finished. What would have taken me months to accomplish on my own by shopping only on Saturdays, we were able to do in just 4 hours. I recommend Paula for her professionalism, expertise, and overall excellent service.

The only thing she did well was educate me on how to paint as far as where a different color should transition....which was very important but that's it. She didn't look at my homes finishes like tile etc and when picking colors well.......that's pretty important! She picked out colors for my approval of course (but I'm not a designer). She picked an array of colors out BEFORE even looking at my house! Ahhhhh my tile has a lot of yellow in it and yellow was one of the colors she chose. I approved and it's WAY TOO MIUCH yellow! I knew it didn't look right and had another designer come in and look and now have to paint AGAIN with a gray tone. I expected her to know this. I mean she claims to be a designer/expert.
She also went on and on (seriously) about a decorative window we have at the front inside of our home that the home builder tends to put in their homes. We re in a development so we didn't design our home per say. She just went on and on about how it was the "dumbest thing she'd ever seen". Ok......thank you very much Paula. She really shouldn't criticize her clients homes.
Knowing how to transition colors was very important but not worth $250. I probably could have learned this but searching on the internet.

Response from Paula Stone Interiors
"I'm very sorry that Client didn't like the colors that she chose; that was a year ago and this is the first I have heard of it. To be clear, I DO NOT choose colors for clients. I take them through a multi step process, during which they must have chosen any given sample five times, under different conditions, for it to become the 'winner'. I NEVER make the selections because people see color differently; some don't see the nuances and some like unusual combinations. Color is very personal so the client must be the one who actually chooses. Again, I am very sorry that she didn't like her choice."

She came prepared, on time at the site, with color swatches and ideas for our upcoming apartment renovation project. The property was built in late 1980's, had never been updated and was old & tired looking.  Her ideas were valuable and fresh.  She was frank and honest in her assessment of the best places to put the rehab dollars for the greatest impact, what things were unnecessary, what things would stand the test of time vs. being trendy, and what things needed to be added.  Very professional, very creative, and excellent sense of space, color and cost.

After reading positive reviews on Paula I asked her to come to our home, mainly to consult about remodeling our master bath. She's a warm, approachable person and I felt comfortable with her. During a walk through of our home we discussed a few updates we were considering along with the master bath.  I appreciate the insight and ideas she shared with us as to what would be good alternatives (and less expensive as it turned out) to our approaches.  She guided me to find the style that would be "mine" for decorating the bathroom.  Paula suggested a starting point for colors/style and then guided me from there with options.  Perhaps we were not clear, but we expected at the end of our consultation to have more of an actual design given to us. What we did receive were confirmation of color selections, a general suggestion for tile design (drawn quickly on a small scrap of paper), time at a local cabinet maker to consider cabinets and access to a decorating store not open to the public.  After paying for two consultations we weren't willing to invest more for something more specific.  The remainder of the bathroom planning was done by ourselves and various subs we worked with.  We love our bathroom and know that Paula spring boarded us to selections that make it beautiful.

Paula was easy to work with and all the choices look good. We would never have been able to make all the choices even down to the 3 different colors and kinds of grout needed in the bathroom,. I would recommend her to others needing design service.

This is the third time we have hired Paula and once again she was professional, patient, and extremely helpful.   She helped us plan a kitchen remodel with the new layout, and with picking granite, tile, appliances, etc.  Somehow she always finds the fine line between politely steering you in the right direction and making sure you end up where YOU want to be, not where she wants you to go.  I could provide "all the details," but I think the following story summarizes Paula's approach to customer service...  After listening to us complain about our electric cooktop and the lack of gas at our house, she said "Maybe you should consider an induction cooktop.  I have one and I love it."  Sensing our initial reluctance about the unfamiliar technology she said, "If you want to, you can come over to my house and cook on it to see how you like it."  Wow!  Once again, Paula proves to be worth every penny of the reasonable rate she charges.  BTW, we bought the induction cooktop, and LOVE it.  Thanks Paula!

Paula came over for an initial consultation where she observed our new home and listened to our needs and wants.  I was a bit weary at first about paying for an interior designer after hearing mixed reviews from people who have used them.  That being said, using Paula's services was a great investment because her sound advice allowed us to make wise purchases and prevented us from spending in the wrong places.  We met with her on a couple occasions afterwards where she accompanied us to shop for furniture.  On every appointment she has been very professional, punctual, and patient.  I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking to furnish their home.

Paula is very easy to work with. She didn't try to push her favorite style and colors on us. She asked questions and listened to what we thought our likes and dislikes were, and then educated us and made alternative suggestions. When she thought we might be making a mistake, she explained why and offered suggestions. When we asked questions, she was very patient and explained her thoughts to us.

You need to allow some time in making appointments with her because she is pretty busy and has to plan her time in San Antonio since she lives in Fredericksburg now.

We plan to get her assistance in seeing what existing furniture can be kept and which should be replaced. We also plan to have her help us pick any new furnishings and accessories.

We are turning a half bath into a full bath and adding a closet to a room.  She was very candid and provided the numerous options available.  She talked us through the plan and provided a rough sketch of the project to show to contractors.  Once we are ready to pick finishes she offered to take us to the showroom and guide us through the process.  Very helpful in finalizing our vision for the project.

We really needed a decorator's expertise after we moved into our new home. Paula made numerous suggestions for our formal dining room, which included placing the leaf in the table with all eight chairs around, since we had the space for it, and replacing the Oriental rug and reupholstering the chairs to match. The furniture we have is almost four decades old, but she assured us it was classic and would work well. She also suggested very tall antique framed mirrors on both sides of the wall in the dining room, which we would have never thought of, and a large piece of art in the center.

The furniture in the Great Room she suggested we keep and made some suggestions in furnishing the room. All excellent ideas! The rug which was originally in the dining room is now in the den and looks fabulous. When we discussed a guest bedroom which had only a king size mattress set in it, she came up with some incredible ideas. We were considering donating some very nice signed and numbered framed prints by an artist from the hill country which were also almost four decades old. We really hated to get rid of them. Paula suggested using all eight of them above an upholstered headboard and suggested placement of a couple of pieces of furniture. We are in the process of getting that done and can't wait for it to all come together and see the end result.

What impressed us about Paula is her appreciation for good furniture. No need to replace it. Just some fabulous decorating tips and our home is already looking great. She even got us interested in checking out antiques!

Ms. Stone is very knowledgeable and able to work within my budget. She went through the house, assessed my wants and needs, and made recommendations. We later went shopping (have gone several times) to pick out some new things. I'm really happy with the decisions we've made together!

Paula met with us on short notice to consult on upcoming kitchen and bath remodeling.  She arrived early and was professional.  We felt comfortable working with Paula.  She gave us good suggestions on things that future buyers would be looking for.  She had good ideas on how to make the areas more functional.

Faced with a massive demolition and remodel that will result in a resale in about 2 years, we found Paula Stone Interiors who does all of the things we needed - helping us to select flooring, fans, solid counter tops, paint, etc., and also does staging downstream when we are ready to sell.
She also introduced us to additional personnel who have helped us with landscape, window coverings, closet organizers (elfa) etc.
She has kept her meetings with us efficient and therefore cost effective - Paula works very well with us and understood after our first meeting exactly what we needed and how our short time here makes getting everything done and ready to go back on the market critical.
Make certain that, like us, you think about why you need a designer, what your primary goals are in building/remodeling, and what you really have as a budget - if you have specific likes and dislikes, these will be helpful to discuss with the designer up front and save you time and expense.  This will help keep the time you spend with designer to a reasonable level and make your remodel more cost effective.
Paula has been personable, knowledgeable, focused on our goals, has provided exceptional tips and guidance on how to achieve what we are doing.
She has been helpful on many fronts as we progress on the remodel, offering advice as we go on how to restructure the master bath, guest bath and new powder room; not to mention the Pantry, garage entry way, etc.

She was awesome! I loved how enjoyable the experience was. She took the time to really get to know my style and vision. She understood where my boundaries were yet pushed me enough to think differently. Shes very reasonably priced and loves value not just trendy brands or styles which makes her choices timeless. i will definitely be using her again for all my design projects.

Paula is a very kind and professional decorator, she showed up in time for the two visits that we needed her. We are very satisfied with the advice, and sincerely think that it was worth the price, a lot of mistakes where avoided, and her fresh ideas made the remodeling of our bathroom look very exciting.

Pauls showed up as schedued and we walked through the house discussing different options.  She got her paint colors out and let me choose from her selections.  We built a color pallet and worked out the painting layout.  I started painting the next day and am 75% complete at this time.  The most difficult part was deciding what color of paint to get.  Paula made that go easy for me.

After going to a store on my own to find luxury vinyl tile, I realized that I needed help in selecting something that would go with the rest of
the flooring in the house. The thought of putting down flooring that was high quality but did not hold up color or texture wise with what was
already there was not an experience I wanted, so I called Paula. We spent almost two hours looking through luxury vinyl tile and, when I
kept going back to one particular one, we agreed that it was ?the one.? Not only do we have a high quality luxury vinyl tile in three rooms, it
looks perfect with the Saltillo tile that it sits next to. Paula is a delight to work with. She?s very calm and listens well. I have used Paula before, and she has always kept me from making choices that I would have regretted, and I have always been delighted once her projects come together.

Paula is excellent at her craft -- from patiently listening to (and helping me determine) my goals  to sharing her years of experience, wisdom, and pragmatic advice -- it was time and money VERY wisely spent.  I'm now "armed" to make the right decisions for interior paint colors, have a couple of solid ideas on displaying some items I've had in storage for years, and -- thanks to Paula's contacts -- have gotten some great deals on new furniture pieces to make my home cozy and that make *me* more comfortable sitting down doing work or watching TV.  Form and function -- just wish I would have done this sooner!

This was a very good experience.  Paula did a very nice job outlining how color can impact a room, even in subtle ways.  She helped me understand how subtle differences in paint color can produce big changes in a room.  She also helped me understand how to address old architectural issues (old fire place and mantel, drop molding and cove ceilings) and rooms with varied lighting.  My preferences were always acknowledged as we evaluated different options.
