Mortgage Companies
It was the best mortgage process we've had and we have done nine of them. The price was modest. They were very professional and very timely. We were competing them against three other companies and their process was just much simpler from start to finish. We would absolutely use them again in the future.

Vultures! WF has my mortgage, and I bank with someone else. Every time I pay in a branch in the DFW area I get pounced on to change to them. I am not just approached, but argued with or mislead that they are affiliated with my bank. ENOUGH! JUST TAKE MY PAYMENT AND SHUT UP!

They exhibit half the professionalism of American Express; they conspicuously favor the merchant and engage in unethical behavior to cater to the merchant. I will never ever become a member of Wells Fargo Visa. I bank with Wells Fargo Visa but am totally unhappy with their credit card services. They are unprofessional and they cater to Visa, they are not fair to consumers. Their customer rewards system is not worth their poor customer service. I have spoken with supervisors at Wells Fargo VISA several times about why I am unhappy with their service and only gotten apologies, never solutions.

For five years my disabled mother-in-law had $180k distributed across three 4.75% five-year CDs with Wells Fargo (Initially Wachovia). My mother-in-law has been in a nursing home for the past eleven years with a stroke, and we help her with her banking since she is disabled. The interest from the CDs helps to pay for her monthly nursing home bills. Two of the CDs matured nine days prior to a visit to the bank. Thinking we had a ten day grace period on each CD maturity date, as with most other banks, we went to withdraw all three CDs on the ninth day. The Wells Fargo banker pointed out that Wells Fargo's grace period was seven days, and not ten days (as with most all other banks), and two of the CDs were automatically rolled into news CDs two days ago at a whopping .45% rate. We were informed by the banker that if we wanted to withdraw the funds there would be one year of interest penalty on each of the two new CDs at a cost of over $600. They were quick to point out that they had mailed us a notification regarding the automatically rollover. And yes, later that day I found my mother-in-law's mail and they did indeed send a notification some days prior to the grace period. Later that day I looked over the notification and then I then looked at Bamkrate.com and saw that all banks listed in the DFW area had a ten day grace period except for Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Technically, they had me. There was no interest, on Wells Fargo's part. in making an exception or being reasonable about their short grace period. After hearing their diatribe about their policy, I asked to speak to someone who was a bank manager or decision maker to discuss the issue. I was told that the manager or decision maker was on PTO (vacation). At that point, nothing I could do, they did indeed legally cover themselves and kept the $600+ in penalties. After some thought about this, I have come to the opinion that this is how Wells Fargo makes a considerable amount of their revenue, hoping people will think their five year CD grace period is ten days like other banks, catch you off guard, and reap their reward. After all, who in their right mind would want to automatically roll over two 4.75% CD to .45% CDs? To me, that's a huge interest rate difference, and penalty amount, and significant enough of a difference that would warrant a courtesy phone callas a heads-up. Technically and legally they won the battle, they had me even though they would not listen to reason. However, ethically, I believe they lost the battle. As such, I'll never bank at Well Fargo again and I will make sure the many people I come in contact with hear my story and I'll encourage they take their business elsewhere. The key takeaway message here is, Buyer Beware.

Notary
I have several bank accounts with Wells Fargo and I use them for notary services as well. I don't get charge for that service for notary services because I have an account with them. It took a little while to get in.

I used to work with Wachovia that Wells Fargo merged with, and I knew about them before because, I was in the industry, and working for Wachovia. I do most things online, it's a good bank, and right now I like it that they are not charging me fees for my account.
