The Meticulous Painter

We had originally started our painting project with intentions of doing it all ourselves, but we quickly came to the realization that it was going to take us much longer than we had originally anticipated to complete the project, especially to the high level of quality we expected. We decided to turn to Angie's List to look for reputable painters in our area.
After talking with three local painters, we decided to go with The Meticulous Painter. We chose to go with them instead of the others for several reasons. First, their price was very competitive. Second, we were on a bit of a time crunch to complete our project, and we caught them at a great time because they were able to start the same weekend. The third reason we decided to go it them was because of their obvious level of experience and expertise in what we were trying to accomplish in these rooms. They offered some great ideas for ways to make everything blend together. The previous occupants had apparently painted themselves, and finding paint marks, splatter, bleed over, and crooked lines in the existing paint was a very common sight. Carl and April had great suggestions on how to clean those up, and the results give testimony of the fact that the name, The Meticulous Painter, is indeed accurate!
Carl and April were on time when they came by to provide the estimate, on time both days they came to paint, and finished the job ahead of schedule. As I mentioned before, we hired them to paint our large living area, our kitchen dining area, and touch up the kitchen cabinets. The living room also required caulking some areas and painting the floor and crown molding. The room looks better than we could have imagined! All of the lines between the molding, door frames, and window frames and the walls are precise and crisp. The white kitchen cabinets had a few stains and marks on them that we had tried to previously clean, and we were just going to have them paint over the stains in hopes they would not show through. While we did do this in a few spots, Carl and April were able to offer suggestions on ways to clean those areas, and that took care of the majority of what we needed touched up on the kitchen cabinets! Now the kitchen just looks beautiful and clean, and we can’t wait to show it off!
The kitchen dining area was probably the biggest challenge. The previous owners had very sloppily painted this room a dark red color and we were wanting it painted a light yellow. There was red paint on the white ceilings, red paint on the aluminum window seals, and the transition between the red dining area and the white kitchen looked like my preschooler had helped paint. I also have eight separate windows in this dining area, so there were plenty of places that took quite a bit of meticulous precision. Let me tell you, I cannot find one shred of evidence that the room was ever painted dark red! They were able to clean up all of the mistakes the previous owners had made. The room looks amazing and much larger now that it is not so dark. All of the lines between the window frames, molding, and rooms are precise.
Would I hire The Meticulous Painter again? Absolutely! In fact, it turns out they do more than just painting, and we are now talking with them about adding some built in book shelves in a couple of our rooms. Carl and April did a fantastic job, and they definitely lived up to their name! In my opinion, they are just good people too. I look forward to working with them in the future!

I am currently living in a family home that was built in the late 1950s and wanted to update some of the rooms and gradually bring the inside of the house up to date. Carl and April arrived on Tues, 10/22/2013 to let me show them what I needed to have done and to give an estimate (half payable at start and half payable upon completion). They arrived the next morning with all the materials and taped and covered all the rooms they would be working on. They did an EXCELLENT job texturing the living room...which had to air out and dry overnight. They then began painting the bedroom. Over the next few days, they did the same EXCELLENT job painting all the rooms. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work that was done. Carl replaced electrical outlets that were a borderline fire hazard due to the age of the home. I really appreciated that. He also identified and repaired a hole in the ceiling of the utility room that was caused by previous water damage. Now, you can't tell there was ever a hole there. April also did a fantastic job repairing and restoring some wood damage in the den. This room was constructed in knotty pine walls and ceilings and had suffered some minor termite damage in the past. Again, I couldn't be anymore please with the quality of the work done. You can't tell there was even a problem.
Before I called Carl and April, I was a bit frustrated with this house and figured it would cost an arm and a leg to make it look a bit nicer. Those two made it look a LOT nicer for a reasonable cost and I am proud of how my home looks. These guys have over 26 years experience and don't limit themselves to just one particular service. They are pleasant and friendly and fair. I feel extremely lucky to have found them on Angie's List and will definitely be doing business with them again.

A quick response to my initial call provided an appointment the next day for an estimate. Carl and April arrived early for the estimate and offered their expertise on different areas. We were on a budget for they worked with us to come to a good price we could afford. They began two days later and worked hard most of the day. They cleaned up after themselves daily. There was one day they were to come and Carl was sick but the next day he arrived on time and finished the job. We love the work and enjoy the friendly, informative way in which Carl and April interacted with us. Great job.
