Well and Pump Service
Prior to purchasing a house with a private well, I had the water quality tested for coliform bacteria and nitrates. Despite many recommendations to have the water tested it was difficult to find a place that actually does water quality testing. After a number of phone calls we located TALEM near downtown Ft. Worth. They don't send anyone out to test, but give you all the things you would need to test the water, including very detailed instructions. After collecting the sample and putting it on ice, we immediately returned it back to the TALEM office. They said it would take 10 days to get the results that cost $200, but they called us within 24 hours to let us know that our sample tested positive for E. Coli. We did an additional test of the water following the same procedures for $40. They called again the next day to let us know that it was negative. We got a written report about a week later. The people at the lab were extremely nice and helpful with us newbies to wells.
