Not only was the job performed superbly, but it ended up coming in under the original quoted price. Don't let the look of this place fool you... Its an excellent shop with dedicated professionals. I'll definitely be back!
The work was done on the agreed upon day and took about 6 hours. The installation was very clean with no damage done to either the truck interior or the installed equipment. He used a couple of unused punchouts in the lower dash in front of the center console to bring out the USB and IPod inputs, and it looks great. He installed the GPS antenna under the dash, below the windshield and the XM antenna on the roof just behind the windshield. Nice clean installation. By the way, the installcard for a satellite radio would have added another $80 to the price from Crutchfield. So using Soundwerk saved me $180!
When I picked up the truck, Cory gave me a quick overview of the equipment operation, and reminded me that the installation labor had a lifetime warranty. He told me not to hesitate to call them or drop by if I had a question or problem. I took him at his word a week or so later when I called about a problem I was having uploading a software update. He told me to drop by and he'd take a look at it. When I arrived, he dropped what he was doing and took a look at my problem. He told me what he thought I was doing wrong and what to do to successfully complete the update. His directions worked perfectly and solved my update problem.
Last Friday, 27 February, David called me to ask how I liked the new system and if I had any problems with the installation. Nice customer service! I told him that I thought the backup camera might be aimed a little low, but I needed to use it more before I decided. He said to not hesitate to drop by if I thought it was aimed too low and they would be happy to adjust it. Again, nice customer service. Based on my experience, these guys are going to get my repeat business.
We needed a replacement for a broken antenna (broken off in the base) on a 2004 Toyota Corolla (no longer had AM reception). I called ahead and spoke with Corey, who looked it up and gave me an estimate to replace it, but suggested I just bring the car by so they could take a look. When I arrived, Corey was busy with another customer, but another gentleman, David, immediately assisted me. He took a look at what was needed and called the Toyata dealerships to see if he could get the part and how much it would be. Toyota did not have the part in stock, and when David heard how much it would be to order (~$230 just for the part), he suggested he see if he could find the part at the junkyard. He planned to head there later in the day to look for something else, and said he would let me know if he could get the part we needed. He called me a few hours later, having found the part, mentioning that "it wasn't pretty" but it would be functional if I wanted it. I set up an appointment to return first thing the next day.
The next day David installed the antenna/base/amplifier in an hour, having even gone the extra step to apply a "rubber shrink" product to seal the lower antenna area and give it a better appearance. Total cost for the parts and labor was ~$130, probably a third of what it would have cost at the dealership. When I got in my car at the end, the AM/FM reception was perfect, and the interior of the car was even cleaner than I had left it.
David was friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly enjoyed the challenge of the hunt for a part that wasn't readily available. I greatly appreciated his kindness and expertise and would highly recommend him! We would definitely return to Soundwerk if we had an issue like this again.
A side note: Soundwerk is a no-frills work place in a strip mall, so if you're looking for plush, this is not the place for you. I personally thought it was great. I appreciate low overhead that helps keep the costs down (but then we're people that still drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla and a 2000 Honda Odyssey, so that tells you something!)
In looking back at the two occassions the original seller and installer had to work on the car and the two trips to the dealership to run diagnotics (Cost me $70) I am sorry I did not go to them originally to have them attempt to repair the original equipment or buy the after market product from them. I will definately kepe them in mind and would highly recommend to all to go see them for purchase or repairs. Store front is not as pretty as one of the other box stores but when it comes to care, concern, expertise and ethics these are the folks to go see.
Total Cost - free.
I researched local car audio system supply and repair businesses on Angie's List and decided to stop by to see what Soundwerk's could do. I stopped by without an appointment on Saturday morning at about 9:00 am and was promptly met by one of the technicians who asked what they could help me with. We went out to take a look at the truck and check out the speakers.
He was well informed about similar issues with the speakers and sound system in the truck and took the time to describe what was happening to the speakers after he listened to the system. I had only one front speaker working correctly, one front speaker with significant "rattling" when listening to music and neither of the two rear speakers worked at all. He explained that in many cases the diaphragm either separated from the basket frame or would be damaged.
I asked about pricing and availability to schedule a repair. The technician introduced me to David, the owner, and he check to see if they had speakers in stock, which they did. He quoted me a price and said that they could complete the replacement of the speakers that morning if I was interested. The pricing for the speakers and installation was very reasonable and they completed the installation within an hour.
I visited with the owner during the installation and described reception problems with a radio in my travel trailer. We discussed the specifics for a few minutes and he surprised me by offering to provide me a new antenna off the wall to all me to check if I had a bad antenna, antenna cable or install. I had already tried this type of evaluation and did not need to accept his kind offer, but the fact that he was willing to go out of his way to assist me in solving another problem impressed me greatly.
The installed speakers work and sound great and the clean up and reinstallation of the door panels was excellent. I was very pleased with the pricing and service that they provided and will use them at any opportunity in the future
I have a 2001 Honda Accord EX, with the original 6 Disc in-dash CD changer/Stereo. Well The CD player stopped working. It would not play, load or eject any CD. All it would display is an ERR message. The local Honda Dealer wanted $150.00 just to look at it. I Googled stereo repair and I could not find any that worked on original car stereos. I was told by several placed that my stereo would have to be shipped out to be fixed. Luckily I was able to find, their add said they worked on all stereos. so I gave them a call. I called and Spoke to Dave said they could take care of me. I took the car in on Monday 08/20/12 around pm, they quoted me $200.00 for un-installing, repairer and re-installing my stereo. They said that it would take 1-2 days to fix. So drove the 15 miles to get there. The staff greeted me by name, they told me again that it would cost around 200.00 for everything, maybe 250.00 if there was a major issue. I agreed to the work, they printed the work order, I signed it and within 5 minutes they had the stereo out. I then drove home. That night I was out and about and I noticed the lights for my AC controls were out. I called them today 8/21/12 and I spoke to Dave he said that my car stereo would be ready this afternoon. I told him about the loss of light on my AC control panel. He said he would look into it for me. When I arrived he put the stereo back in and it worked perfectly. He even replaced the bulb for my AC controls at no charge! I was impressed with the whole staff and my treatment. When I checked out I was only charged $170.00 which was $30.00 less than I expected. Dave, said if I had any issue what so ever, just to call and they would take care of it. I could not be happier with the work and service I received.
