the booking process was easy and straightforward. that was THE ONLY thing that went smoothly and as expected. $135/hr for 7 hours, with $50 surcharge for each 2-story home (both are 2-story), so do the math. scheduled to have them come to move me on Sunday 5/12/24 at 10am. 1. I get a text from the owner on Sunday morning telling me their moving truck got into an accident and were running a little late while they get a replacement truck. I later get a text telling me that the u-hauls available then were in too rough condition and would it be ok to come tomorrow (Monday 5/13/24). since we had a one day buffer, we said ok. appointment made for 9am. 2. they show up on monday an HOUR late (10am). get this - they show up to move a 5 bdrm, 4 bath, 3 car garage home with a single 26ft U-Haul and just 2 guys! it gets worse. the "more experienced" guy works in their office doing accounting and social media. the 2nd guy, he's a college kid on break, it was his FIRST DAY ON THE JOB, and NEVER did any work before as a mover. they showed up with a BOX dolly and (literally) a couple of tools. no appliance dolly, no wrench set, no vise grip, no pliers! I asked, "where's the rest of your team?" guy tells me, "we're it." 3. truck gets loaded up full by around 2pm or so. easily another load or two. so they proceed to go to new home and just fill my house and garage with stuff everywhere. they said, "we will unload this load, grab the next load, come back to the new house, and put everything where it needs to go when we get back with the second load." 4. by the time they get back to old home to load up, it's around 4pm. the office worker has the newbie doing all the work while office guy spends a ton of time on the phone with owner, telling him, "there's no way we finish today." at the same time, I'm texting owner telling him, "your guys are fading, and they're talking of coming back tomorrow." I tell everyone there is NO WAY we have another day because of how they chose to NOT come Sunday and instead do it all on Monday. we need to be OUT of old home TODAY. come 9pm, these guys still haven't disconnected the washer and dryer (they didn't come with the tools. I had to go to my other home to grab MY tools and they still couldn't disconnect them. my wife overhears office guy talking with boss, renegotiating pay for him and his buddy instead of working. in the meantime, I'M carrying stuff out to the driveway to make their jobs easier. the owner texted me around 8pm telling me he had another crew that would be relieving my crew (he lied, of course). in the meantime, the drivers left to make their 2nd trip around 9pm, while my wife and daughter went to the new home to drop off their loads from their vehicles while I finished packing and taking boxes out to the driveway for when they come back. 5. while back at the new home with the second load, to help the guys, MY WIFE and DAUGHTER begin to help them to unload the truck! about 11pm, my wife and daughter return to the old house. 6. around 1130pm, the owner himself comes to the house (it's about time. he gave me some excuse he was traveling up until when he came in, which I say was kinds sus, but whatever, any help we can get is appreciated). the moving truck guys come back 45-60 min AFTER my wife and daughter left at the same time they did. owner says they need to refuel the truck. I say, "I think they went home." gas, my a**. I'd bet they were heading out and not coming back, but developed a conscience and returned, albeit late. 6. ok, I'm tired of this but suffice to say, we didn't get to bed until 2:30am and the house was a total mess. owner had to return the next morning with another guy to move and assemble the beds. they were in an obvious rush and didn't do a few things I had asked them. he ended up charging me for 10 hours and not the original 7 and made it sound like he was doing me a favor. I can't say he was not cordial, apologetic, and seemingly a good guy, but while I'm not telling anyone NOT to hire them, I'll never hire them again, myself.
