Our apartment inside the barn was such a disappointment with so many deficiencies. Our stained concrete floors were done by a novice and his lack of experience was not revealed until the floor was sealed. The company ended up charging us more for an inadequate job versus what a professional with years of experience would charge for the same service. They eventually had to have a professional come in to attempt a repair but the floor still appears to have been done unprofessionally. I originally wanted a tile shower but the builder said that was not going to be possible because of the shower and drain location. So he installed a fiberglass shower but it was installed upside down. The shower was removed and reinstalled but within 6 months it was detaching from the wall. The builder sent his worker out to fix the shower but when he was done it looked horrible. There is so much extra caulking all over the shower wall and in a color that does not match the original caulking. Our apartment was painted 3 times due to deficiencies like paint drips on the cabinets, missed areas, over painted areas on the floors and trim and still by the 3rd time it looked like an amateur job. My metal barn roof has been leaking from day one. They have come out several times to fix it but had difficulties locating the leak. About a month ago, during a rain storm I finally located the leak but now they will not come out to fix it. Every time it rains the water drips from the metal roof right on to my apartment roof which is just plywood. I am afraid if this continues the wood is going to start to warp and the water eventually leaking into the apartment. Our covered back porch leaks also with every rain storm due to inadequate sealing. My shower is starting to detach from the wall again and most of the caulking is coming off. Around 3 of my windows the drywall is pulling away from the caulking and it is cracking. There is a place in my bed room that the trim is gapping. Since April 12, 2011, I have been emailing the builder about these problems and can not get them to commit to repairs. They keep saying that someone should be calling in a couple of days but that has not happened. My last email was written on May 6th stating that I've been patient and understanding of their busy schedule but that if all items were not corrected by May 14th, I would pursue other actions. According to our records, the building should still be under the 1 year warranty as of June 2011. Needless to say we have severed our contract with this builder to renovate our house. We have spent a lot of money on this project. I would at least like to live in this little apartment comfortably and know that all inadequacies have been rectified until we can find someone qualified to pick up where shotty builder left off. I guess I should be thankful that I got to see the quality of their workmanship before they started on my house.
Description of Work: We hired Hubbard Olde World Homecrafters to build a 45' x 80' x 14' metal barn with a 537sqft living quarters inside that we could move into this while this same company was to do an extensive renovation on our existing house.
