Roofing
EXCELLENT!
.. Carl Hickey was outstanding to work with - he is very personable and more consumer-friendly than many contractors. He was recommended to me by my insurance agent as Carl had replaced the insurance man's roof several times over the last twenty or so years. Carl is in his late 50's and has owned his own company for about 30 years here in the metroplex. This is no fly-by-nght roof man.
.. His prices were very competitive when compared with the other contractors I vetted. He offered other alternatives, but did not push higher priced options.
.. I had a problem area on the roof where the angles formed a "dead valley" which had leaked. Carl did significantly more than the minimum fix and I don't think I will have problems in that area again. None of the other contractors I talked with were proposing to do as much as he did.
.. His work crew was friendly and efficient - it took 1.5 days (in December - short days) to finish a 2600' house plus double garage with fairly steep roof angles and LOTS of strange roof angles.
.. They removed and replaced a satellite dish on the roof. One of the other contractors said they would remove the dish, but not replace it. That would have been a hassle (and possibly expensive) to get back to normal.
.. I showed them where the dog yard was and asked that they be extra careful about nails. They laid down a huge tarp in that area to catch everything. They finished that roof section and cleand up the yard on the first day so the dogs could have their area back the first night.
.. The work crew cleaned up their personal mess before they left the first day. When they left the second day, you couldn't tell anyone had been there. Carl even came back later and walked the driveway to make sure they hadn't missed any nails that might find their way into my tires.
.. I asked Carl to leave me a pack of shingles in case I had problems in later years - "Of course, no problem."
.. I was impressed with Carl, his team, and the results. Although I hope I never have to replace the roof again, the Metroplex does have a lot of hail storms and I doubt I will be that lucky. If/when I do need a new roof or roof repairs, I will call Carl again. (817-332-7074)
