They did an excellent job and now 10yrs later...there have been zero issues. I did have my own Structural engineer design the foundation and an architect draw up the prints....but JM Builders did the rest.

We were quoted 4-5 weeks. Lasted 3 and a half months. 2. Supervisor-Mark, never came to inspect the completed work after they received one of the lady checks. We got to the point where we e-mailed his son at the 3month mark and cc'd our attorney and Mark never called to acknowledge anything in regards to that. We submitted pictures of items left to be corrected and we still have closdt doors that are nit level and its noticeable in all the pictures. 3. We were the ones calling some of their sub contractors to see when they were completing and twodifferent times around month 2 (when we stopped hearing or seeing the actual responsible supervisor Mark) We mentioned we had called the plumber and he had no clue that they hadn't finished their work. Apparently when we spoke with one of their sub-contractor we then heard that they hear that alot from their other clients as well. 4. The last city inspection failed and still the supervisor/owner never showed up! His son was sent to fix the problems which had nothing to do with what we were asking be fixed. They re-scheduled the inspection and a week later no one showed up to meet inspector. The things the city mentioned for thr exterior were corrected so they received apassing inspection for the exterior. We were left with zero communication, un even closet doors, paint spots still missing and by far the worst customer service.

They had to make a connecting hall and then a huge room in the back, it was basically like a separate apartment but connected to the house for her.
They were very professional, they were very timely. The job was well done. For the price they came in on, they did an excellent job. We got a couple of other estimates and they were no where close. 
From the moment he walked in, we went outside and talked about the work that could be done and couldn't be done in terms of the regulations and new fence space and all that stuff. He was very cautious to do it right. In the 7 years or so since we had it done we have not had one problem with the addition. 
I can't say that he always answered his phone but if I left a message he got right back with me. I understand that I'm not the only person that he is working with. 
He is an older gentleman and very professional. I have recommended him to several people in that past.

It went well overall.  The one snag was that they thought we were getting HOA clearance while we thought they were doing it.  So, they had to stop work for a week or so while we straightened that out.  It should have been written down by the parties and both sides neglected to do that.  We are thrilled with the result.  We added a 150 sq.ft. sunroom with 5 windows and an new exterior door.  The remaining part of the original patio is now covered by the new roof and provides such a lovely covered porch area.  This review is written a couple months after so, I don't remember details of incidents but, I do remember calling Mark, our contact with J&M, toward the end of the project and telling him we thought a few things needed further attention.  He sent someone out that day or the next to fix the problems.

Mark Adaire is an old-school contractor. JM Builders is a family business and it shows. There is an overriding pride Mark takes in making sure the customer is happy. I was in the remodel business years ago so I know what I'm talking about. I am a pretty discerning customer. From my experience, Mark Adaire is good for his word. If he said he will get something done, it got done. Mark's brother Adrian is the same way and an excellent craftsman. Our job, like most remodel jobs did not go perfectly smooth. However, at every challenge, Mark was there to always answer his phone and get things back on track. I learned a lot and appreciate the challanges facing a small remodel contractor today by experiencing it first hand. I have heard horror stories from many of our friends that we did not come close to experiencing. We added 4 feet on to an existing room, roofline change and appearance items we had wanted to do for years. I had tried for 8 months to find a contractor to do a "small" , less than $30,000 job. I contacted several contractors to which most just said it was too small. Mark, gave me detailed specs, drawing and price, pronto. I think his target is smaller jobs that he can get in and out of quickly. The job, of course, took longer than expected due to every issue imiginable including me. Overall, we are pleased with the work and highly recommend Mark.

Bottom line is this. If you are considering a small to medium remodel, JM Builders and Mark Adaire is you first choice. Don't jack around with your most valuable asset and have a horror story like  your friends. Mark will answer his phone and you will be happy.
