J.R. came out and looked at the yard with me and I told him what I did and didn't want cut down. The price was high but I needed the cleanup done immediately and everyone else was busy. I think he did not pay attention to what I was telling him because he kept trying to sell me on cutting down trees and cleaning gutters. Get everything in writing from this company if you use them. When I came by the next day to see the work, there was one grey haired, skinny man with a rake and a pick stuffing leaves in black plastic bags by hand. It looked like he would be working for many hours and sent a text to J.R. asking if he wanted to finish the next day. It was going to rain. When I went back by an hour later there was one helper but he quickly finished mowing and left additional tools for the solitary man to continue to work through the pouring rain. J.R. showed up about noon and I asked about the cut plants and his reply to every one was, "they'll grow back". I have included a picture of the boxwood which won't be growing back. I asked about different things that weren't done and he said, "I never said I'd do that". My mistake was I didn't get a list in writing before he started. When I asked if he would be taking the 13 large plastic bags to the dump, he said....I didn't say I'd do that. Ft Worth does not pick up plastic bags and it would have cost another $100 to hire another company to dispose of the leaves and I risked getting fined $10/bag by code enforcement. I thought since J.R. lived in Ft Worth he knew they would not pick up the pile of bags. I told him I would pay him when the job was done and he started to talk to me like a street thug. I left. He came back the next morning and got the bags and refused to replace the plants that were dug up by mistake. I had enough of the whole mess and paid him. I hope no one that reads this uses his company.

J. R. Armstead gave us a very competitive bid compared to another provider. His crew arrived on time and began attaching ropes to the tree limbs to manage the direction they fell. I did not appreciate this step at the time. Turns out, a neighbor of mine hired another tree pruning contractor a few months later who skipped this step. A very large tree limb was cut from their tree and fell directly onto their roof, causing significant damage. Anyway, J. R. and his crew were better trained and more professional. The ropes were tied FIRST. Then the larger tree limbs were cut and stacked on the trailer. After the large limbs were on the trailer, the ropes were re-attached to the main trunk and it was cut at the base. There was no "collateral damage" to anyone's landscaping, car or dwelling. After the trunk was down, it was cut into sections and put onto the trailer. Then the stump grinding began. Paul was in charge of that portion of the work. My plan for the yard included putting in an organic garden in the backyard. The rest of the crew shuttled the chips from the stump grinding into the backyard in wheelbarrows and dumped them in the location I specified. The work was complete within a matter of a few hours. This was "phase one" of my plan for the yard. See my other review about how "phase two" went.

Heavenly Landscape isn't just owned by J. R. Armstead; he personally comes to give you the estimate, supervises the work, and does the final walkthrough with you. This was "phase two" of the work to restore our yard. "Phase one" was the removal and stump grinding of the poorly place tree in our front yard. See my review of that work, elsewhere on Angie's List. This was the removal of the last of the river rock, tilling, levelling and placing new St. Augustine's sod in our back and front yard. J. R.estimated that the tilling and levelling would be the most expensive part, because the previous owner had an above-ground pool and had just shoveled the dirt into a pile in the middle of the yard. Since it was very likely grass covering red and yellow clay, it would be a struggle that needed tilling, moving the clay, re-tilling, moving more clay, etc. His estimate was $3,000 to level, till, and replant fresh St. Augustine's grass front and back. Turned out, this was a reasonable estimate, and so we gave him the job. On the day the work was to be done, his crew showed up on time. Paul began tilling the backyard, immediately. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew waited for the delivery of three pallets of sod. As soon as the sod was delivered, they began laying the sod on the area of the backyard that was already "at grade" level. Took the crew half a day to level the yard, just as J. R. had predicted. By six in the evening, the sod was complete in the backyard. They called it a day and said they would be back to finish the front yard. The crew came back a week and a half later to finish the sod in the front yard. They not only pruned the overgrown shrubs on the side of the house, they removed the shrubs we no longer wanted in the front beds and distributed cow manure and sand mix which was tilled in. They ground the top of the stumps that were left from the larger shrubs, and re-ground the stump of the previously removed tree to make sure it was level with the rest of the front yard. The work was done so well, three of our neighbors complimented us on look of the yard and our choice of landscape contractor. Another asked for the contractor's name.

Holly Allaire of Heavenly Landscapes couldn’t be better. Our project included replanting beds (including removing existing shrubs) and planting new beds in the front, back, and side yards – plants, shrubs, and trees – as well as complete and partial resodding. She met with us twice to talk about possible plans, and when we had plans she was glad to work with us to modify them slightly, so as to work in some of the things that we especially wanted. She knows and loves plants, and she was enthusiastic in thinking trough with us what might be best. We scheduled a time and she and her crew were there and working for three days. As the plants and sod were delivered, we were impressed with the high quality of everything – all the plants very healthy and thriving, and of a good size. And Holly even substituted mature plants for some of the ones we had planned for. As the whole project began to shape itself, we were impressed with Holly’s design – neither the choice of plants nor the layout was conventional, but nicely varied. Most of all we were very impressed that Holly really knew her plants, knew what would thrive in what location, what could take full sun or partial sun or shade only. The crew was impressive too, steady, knowledgeable, courteous, thorough – and they were careful to clean up at the end of each day. The landscaping looks fantastic! Our neighbors keep trooping by to take a tour! The beds look as though the plants were already settled in and thriving, after only a week, as though they had always been there. We checked with a couple of other landscapers before we met with Holly. They were simply not well informed about the plants and not interested in a thoughtful landscape design. Holly does care – she loves plants, and when you speak with her she gets excited about how the plants are going to look. Also, when compared with others, Holly’s prices seemed very reasonable.

2 man crew removed several overgrown shrubs from the front and back of my home. They arrived early, worked efficiently and left my yard tidy. I was amazed at how much they got done in the 2 hour time frame. I would highly recommend this service.

Only 3 plants survived out of 8 that were planted. Some were planted where they got too much sun.  I had them do a stepping stone path on the shady side of the year which was exactly what I wanted.  Not so happy about the plants.  I've done better with plants from local Garden stores and planting them myself (with a little help).

I called Heavenly Landscaping, and 20 minutes later, the owner, J. R. Armstead arrived to give me a free estimate. We agreed on the work to be done, and the price, and he said he would be back in the morning.  He and his crew arrived on time, and two and a half hours later everything was done.  They were pleasant, polite, and professional.

I was very satisfied with the results.  Initially I had a misunderstanding of the time frame.  I thought it was for  2 workers 2hrs each totaling 4 hrs but it was for 2 workers totaling 2 hrs.

Jaime (hai-me) and crew were great.  Listened to everything I had asked and executed well.  They worked VERY fast and cleaned up well after they were finished. The backyard looks so much better as a result and I will definitely use them again!

Heavenly Landscaping did a good job; an excellent job. In fact, we brought them back for some additional work that was not a big deal but we liked their work so well that we actually had them back. I really like their work. The big deal was when we had them do just regular landscape kind of work. We'll use them again.

Excellent work. I was amazed at the work they were able to complete in one day. It looked like a new place. Everything was left neat. Of course there was a six-foot high pile of debris left at the curb for the city to pick up. Although it was a little pricey, I certainly couldn't have accomplished all of that by myself. It was worth the cost.

They did a good job. With the bad weather and the freeze that we had, she said everything was guaranteed and that everything would grow. It didn't and she came back and redid the work. I am real happy. If somebody wants to use them, I would say that they should at least talk to them and get the ideas and prices. They are very reliable. I can count on them to show up and do what they said they would do. I would use them again in the future.
