Marcus and his team from DFW Fence Contractors did an outstanding job. They were punctual from coming for the initial estimate to when the job was started and completed. Removal/installation crew was fantastic. Very professional. Worked quickly and efficiently. They were on the pricey side of the quotes I obtained, but I didn't have any worries from beginning to end.

They tore out and hauled off existing fence paying attention to water sprinkler and landscaping. Installed 236 feet of six foot board on board western red cedar fence and boxed in the posts and weld extensions. Each board was hand dipped in the stain so that all sides were uniform. They were able to use some of the existing posts. Price also includes footers, trim and top cap. We worked with Josh who was professional and knowledgeable about his work.

I went with DFW even though more expensive as it was a veteran owned business and Marcus really worked with me to get my comfort factor up on getting the "Artwork' Fence and gate I got. I love the fact that they trimmed out parts of the gate- something I have not seen on anyone else's gate in the neighborhood. Only issues - check your sprinklers when they are done - this is their and my obligation. Also the gate being so large had some issues with the eyes lining up and it was fixed quickly. I only note this as most people get fences every 15-20 years- so I am hoping to help someone else out.

This review is for a fence that was installed a year ago. I wanted to see how the fence held up before offering insights and advice about the product and service that I received. When I first contacted Marcus in late 2015, he was very quick make an appointment for the estimate. When he arrived, he was punctual, polite, and thorough in his assessment. He asked a lot of questions and offered several style options for us to choose from. Samples of his work were right in the bed of his pickup truck, and his written estimate was fully detailed. Let me say right away that Marcus’ estimate was the highest that we received, but not outrageously so. We’ve seen a lot of poorly installed low-quality fencing, some right in our own neighborhood, and we were convinced that the fence that Marcus would build would be both robust and beautiful. Marcus uses hand dipped Western Red Cedar for the pickets and pressure-treated pine for the parts of the fence which make ground contact. On our property, he also installed extra posts and a retaining wall 3 feet down to ensure that we had no problems with the grade in years to come. The installation took 2 days, and the crew was right on time each day. They worked very hard all day long, without rushing anything, and they were very careful in their removal of the existing fence as well as the installation of the new fence. The hardware used, from the screws and nails to the door latches, posts, and hinges were all top of the line. The end result was fantastic - easily the best looking fence on the block, being new, but the method of construction makes it clear from 50 feet away that this fence is built to last. Now, a full year later, the fence is exactly as it was originally installed. The dark walnut brown stain has lightened to a more copper-like shade, which I like very much. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the fence! We will have Marcus re-stain in a couple of years to restore and protect our investment. I can’t thank Marcus and his crew enough for their excellent craftsmanship and for their commitment to their customers. We enjoy our fence every single day, as well as the peace of mind that comes with something that is really, truly, done right. So, if you’re shopping for a new fence and you want ‘the good stuff’, look no further… THIS IS THE GUY. Marcus and his crew will make sure that you are completely satisfied with their work and that your fence provides you with years of worry free enjoyment and security.

Marcus is great. The fence installed is of high quality and looks like it will last a LONG time. I appreciated his help and will do business with him again when the time comes to replace one remaining part of my fence.

Overall, extremely satisfied. Slight miscommunication regarding finished design but fence still looks fantastic. I made a few modifications and Marcus graciously accommodated without any hesitation. An oversight of the footer not being stained to match predipped boards was quickly resolved the next day. Marcus returned to inspect finished design and one board is slightly lighter in color, so he is sending someone to stain it darker. I appreciate that he is a perfectionist and the craftsmanship of his crew is outstanding.

We had 100 feet of back fence line that was being held together with spit and tape, so we needed to have it replaced.  We had scheduled a day, but then the rain downpours came, and we had to cancel.  I figured it would be a while before they could come back out, but lo and behold, I came home from work two days later and the fence was done!   I was very surprised and pleased by this - especially considering that not 3 weeks later, there was a tornado in the area which our old fence would have never survived.  We also have 2 mischievous dogs who need a secure fence, and this one does the job quite well.
The price of their work is a little high (in my opinion), but for the speed and quality you get, it's well worth it - which is why we called them back after the last job they did for us.  The warranty on their fences can be up to 25 years, and that makes me VERY happy.

Marcus was knowledgeable and professional.  I felt his moral values of doing a great job at the most reasonable  price using only the best materials.  The team that worked on my fence was awesome!  These 4 young men worked as a team in the most efficient manner and they were very polite!  The job looks beyond what I expected and the neighbors are already telling me thumbs up!
When they finished I thought I would pick up some odds and ends, but they had left my yard spotless.
DFW Fence deserves the "Best Job Ever! " reward.

The team of three experienced fence installers came on time, were very professional in there work, and addressed every detail in the installation.  I watched some of their work just to see the precision in their workmanship.
The quality of materials and workmanship was super.  I even gave each worker a tip.
I would definitely use DFW Fencing again.
Thanks again for a great job.

The crew came in, worked their hours and picked up their mess after each day of work. This project took about 1 week, which was estimated, and when complete, the few little tweeks here and there that needed to be taken care of, Marcus back with his crew to do the finishing touches. Awesome customer service!

We chose DFW Fence contractor over three other bids because of their knowledge, preparedness, and professionalism.  This was not easy as there were 5 neighbors involved and each had input on which company to use.  It is not often you can get that many people to agree on one company when they weren't the cheapest.  This was in December 2012.

Fast forward to July 2014, I called Marcus for a couple of service-repair items (not related to construction of fence) and he sent his crew to address my needs.  The crew leader was Joe, and he did a fantastic job in repairing my gate that was damaged due to pool construction.  It looks brand new again and the fence itself looks as good as the day it was installed.  I believe the individually dipped pickets make a huge difference in appearance and durability.  I definitely recommend DFW Fence Contractor to everyone I can!!

I got lots of recommendations from Nextdoor for fencing contractors and really liked everyone with whom I spoke. But my neighbor had already hired DFW Fence Contractor, so they came and built the fence on one side of my yard. After seeing their quality work, I couldn't imagine using anyone else. It is hard to conceive that anyone could be excited about a fence company. And I'm really not that easily impressed. But when you see over-the-top quality work, I feel you need to recognize that. And I am overwhelmed by DFW Fence Contractor. This is one fence company that does NOT use subcontractors. They have developed a quality crew and use them exclusively. Some of the guys on the crew have worked for DFW Fence Contractor for 11-12 years. It isn't fair to call their employes a "fencing crew." It would be more appropriate to call them "master craftsman." The craftsmanship starts by hand-dipping the wood in a vat of stain so that the stain permeates into the wood. Then the wood is dried on a rack before it is ever brought to the job site. The crafstmen arrived and removed every vestige of our old picket fence (which was not built by craftsmen and was falling apart after 10 years). I've seen some companies compromise by digging shallow holes, but DFW Fence Contractor dug 3' deep holes and filled with concrete to provide a stable platform for our 8' fence. The poles were painstakingly lined up. A kick board made of pressure-treated pine was placed at the bottom. This board enables you to use a weed-eater without damaging the fence (and discourages animals from digging underneath the fence). The fence boards are deliberately kept up off the grade (more than the building code requires) so that they will not rot. When it came time to build the fence, the boards in our board-on-board fence were not only spaced evenly, but each board was also checked with a level to ensure that it was perfectly vertical. I watched the crew chief--Carlos--spend 10 minutes making sure that 2 mitered joints on the top trim fit perfectly with all side flush. He measured and remeasured the board and made the perfect cuts until it looks perfect. Where necessary, they trimmed tree branches sparingly and carefully. They not only cleaned up wood fragments from the fence, but they also cleaned up the tree branches, trimmed metal, and even moved dirt from the holes to the most advantageous places in our yard. They left our neighbor's yard spotless and made sure their fences remained well-supported. We don't really have a fence, we have a work of artful craftsmanship that happens to enclose our yard. Carlos and crew arrived promptly, were courteous, and exemplified diligence in the greatest degree. The owner of the company, Marcus, gave a thorough and detailed quote, answered all my questions, and even helped us secure some matching stain for a part of our fence that a neighbor recently erected and was not being replaced. I received numerous recommendations from neighbors about fence companies, but after using DFW Fence Contractor, I will never use another company while I live in the DFW area. If you have them build a fence for you, it will likely be the envy of all your neighbors. The beautiful fence with rich dark walnut color and professionally done trim transformed our back yard. And I've never seen another fence company that builds such a professional looking gate. The gate is routed so that the hinges are flush with the surface of the fence. The gate is Z-braced and the gate latch is mounted on a vertical board that goes from the bottom to the top of the fence in such a way as to give it complete stability. It is the most professional-looking latching system you'll ever see on a wooden fence. Bottom line: If you're looking for a fence company, look no further. It is highly improbable that you will ever find another company who will arrive so promptly, do such great craftsmanship, and leave the work site so clean. You will be inviting people over just so they can admire your fence. Don't be surprised if it takes a few weeks to a month to get DFW Fence Contractor out to build your fence. Marcus keeps one super-talented crew and doesn't subcontract. He does this so that he can control quality and be proud of every fence that is built. But trust me, if you have to wait 4-6 weeks to have these folks build your fence, it will be WORTH THE WAIT! You can find them at dfwfencecontractor.com, 9972 Bison Ct, Fort Worth, TX 76244 (817) 886-0848. Ask for Marcus.

The fence looks good. Totally disagree with the grade of the material used. I was told with a #1 grade that the knot sizes would be about the size of the tip of my pinky finger. I was at work when the fence was installed. (Totally my fault) When I complained about the fence grade. I was told that's not what I was told. Honestly pinky finger isn't a term that I would have come up with on my own. Trust me. The material that I received has numerous large knots.  The material could very well be #1 grade. It's just not what I was told it would be when I was given the estimate. If I had  been told that it would have all the knots. I would have gone with the clear grade. Why would we put up a 8' board on board fence, if its going to end up with peep holes.

When I posted my original review. On Angie's list. They contractor phoned me to find out why I gave them such a bad review.  (originally I didn't leave any comments) So I told him. Then he told me that I didn't pay for the #1 grade. It would have cost $2. a foot more. That's strange  because I have the contract right in front of me. (#1 grade, remove existing posts w/ concrete)

We paid to have the old posts removed including the concrete. It's on the contract. They didn't remove the posts below the ground level or the concrete. They just cut them off just below the ground level. Then covered them up with dirt. When I noticed that they had not been removed. They said they would come back out to remove them. The only problem with that is that they said the would have to take the fence down. Not the posts of course. We just had the fence put up, so we didn't want any of the pickets pried off. So we told them to leave it alone.

If the material would have been as it was described too me and the posts had been removed instead of hidden. I would have given them a much better grade.

Response from DFW Fence Contractor
"After the proof has been sent to the home owner there is still a question of the quaility of board that was purchased. The home owner here also has been given both reciepts from two different suppliers of ours. The first reciept is were we went to our supplier to by the # 1 grade picket at Jamieson Fence Supply. The other is were we purchased the post , concrete and fittings at Master Halco. We offered again three years later to the home owner to go back and remove any posts that we left. The interesting thing about this is that we just installed his neighbors fence on the other side of the alley from him. When i went to the appointment the new client asked me to look at his neighbors fence that was built 3 years ago. The new client and i walked the old job that i did for his neighbor and he wanted the same thing. Our new client said that the 3 year old fence we built has not even faded, no knot holes falling out, and has no lean to it. He wanted one just like that. We do quality work and stand behind it. If the client want a better grade like Clear it would have been $8 more per foot at that time. Everything that was on our contract 3 years ago was honored and again 3 years later was honored again. I ask one question. Have you ever had a contractor offer to repair something 3 years later on a contract? Where were these complaints or descripences when we asked for finial payment. Every home owners has the right to hold payment until the job is complete. Why were we paid if the job was not quailty work?"

First, let me start off by saying that their work and their prices are unbeatable!  Our fence looks amazing, and for how much we had done, the price just couldn't be better.

But, let me say that we did try to contact Marcus several times, and he never returned our calls.  Like, not ever.  We had some questions about our invoice, about job finish times, etc... and he never contacted us back.  Additionally, when they needed to stain some panels, they did not use tarps, and it made a mess on several parts of our lawn.  Rather than removing our old posts (we had our fence line extended) they just broke them at ground level and left them - which isn't a huge deal, but it left the partially broken posts exposed, and our dog has been chewing on them.

I would certainly recommend DFW Fence Contractors, and we will use them again in the future.  Their quality and prices are excellent, but it did come with a few disappointments.

The  fence and gate are beautiful.  The installers made a mistake on the
cedar fence part but the company handled it professionally and fixed it
immediately to our complete satisfaction.  Our only gripe would be a
custom iron drain area built under a part of the cedar fence to allow
for water drainage had the rails all at different sizes.  Wish the
custom part had the iron equally spaced.  We did accept it and did not
ask for it to be replaced.  We would use them again.
