Paid a deposit in December,2009, to Arlington Marble to install a granite bar countertop in December, and in July,2010, granite kitchen countertops. My problem with Arlington Marble started with the bar installation. We had a new custom bar cabinet installed before the granite installation. A worker had to cut the sheetrock around the bar for the countertop. He accidentally gouged the new cabinet.I was naturally upset, but realize accidents happen, so was not upset with him. The problem occurred with the owner. We called him that evening and told him about the nick, and his response was I'm at home now. What do you want me to do about it now. I would have been satisfied with, "I'm sorry, I'll fix it." To this day, he has never made an effort to fix it. Since it was a ,minor nick, it would not have taken much to repair it. In June,2010, I called the owner and told him we were going to need him to install the kitchen granite countertops soon. I asked him if there was any problem, because it had been some time since December, and he said there was no problem and to let him know when we needed him. We planned for the granite installation, but there was a slight delay due to the new cabinets not being ready. After the new cabinets were installed, we set the date for the install for July,22. Arlington Marble came out that day and installed the kitchen countertops. There were two major mistakes. One, the counter edges where a cut had to be made did not line up with each other. This was a very obvious mismatch. Two, the sink cutout was done the exact opposite from what I had instructed. I told the office manager I wanted the granite to overhang the sink, and the cutout was made around the perimeter of the sink. I'm guessing this was not communicated to the workers correctly, so it might not have been their fault.Around 5:00 the workers left for the day and said they would return. I assumed it would be the next day, which was Friday. I called the owner the next day and told him,the problems. He said he could not come back out until Monday. That was the last straw.I went in person to his office and told him We were going to hire another company to fix the problems, and that we did not want them back out. At that point, he became angry and sarcastic. I asked him what did I owe him because I intended to pay for the day they came out (I had already paid for the granite),minus what it was going to cost me to hire another company to try to undo their mistakes. He demanded full payment and threatened me with putting a lien on my house. At this point , I just wanted to be rid of Arlington Marble and paid him. Bottom line is shoddy work and terrible customer service.
