Mike Albee and I met and discussed the project. After getting a few more bids, I decided to go with Albee Construction, even though they were not the cheapest. Mike listened and worked with me to try to get just what I wanted done. We ran into a few snags like wet weather and inferior prior construction, so the total was more than what we had thought to begin with, but the changes needed to happen to make the project work.
I really liked the fellow the Mike sent out to do the work, Roger Dale Martin, but unfortunately Roger passed on a week or so after the job was completed. My condolences to Mike and the Albee Brothers corporate family.
I will use Mike the next time I have a big project.

Received quote in February 2013. We asked various questions between February and April 2013. They were slow to respond to emails (not just by my standards, but versus the other companies we were comparing too). Other companies would respond within a day or two. Allbee brothers would respond within a week. I read all the reviews, especially about promptness and even addressed it with them before hiring them. We believed that we could deal with any issues. The price was right, and we enjoyed their answers to our questions.
I was disappointed, when we received the quote in February, the quote said money due at completion. I was under the assumption that it would be no money down (all other contractors put what was required down, on their quotes). I was always told not to pay contractors before any work. So this is one of the reasons I picked the Allbee Bros. When we went to sign the contact they wanted half down. We told them we wasn't comfortable, so they said they would work with us and allowed us to give them 25%. We signed a contract with them mid-April. The day they came to pick up the down payment check for the job, they texted at 6am and said they were in the area and could pick up the check within the hour. They arrived around 10am. We weren't exactly pleased with this because I was in labor and getting ready to go to the hospital. We didn't tell them about me being in labor but they did say that we could leave the check on our porch or mailbox and they would pick it up. But we didn't feel comfortable leaving a $1,000.00 or more check laying around outside.
Then they said the job would start on such and such day. The day came and went. We would call and follow up and they said an existing job was running over. I believe our job started a week later than originally planned. They would never call to status us, we were always calling to inquire as to why they hadn't shown up, as promised. The job finally started... It started on a Thursday and last almost a week. Where they said it would be a 2-3 day project. Each day 1-2 people would show up between 10am-noon and work until 4pm. I believe if they would have sent more people and worked a full 8 hours the job would have been completed within the agreed upon time. Work crew was polite and friendly and tried to be extremely conscience (noise wise) that we had a newborn.
Had a couple issues after the completion of the project. They came out the following day to address those issues. However they promised to show up at 730am and showed up at 1130am. They did text at 8am saying they got caught up and were just leaving. They spent the time showing us how to use the system and was very personable. Job finished mid-May. When leaving they said they have a plot of our property and will send it to us within a few days, so we will be able to provide for any work done on our property in the future. That promise was made mid-May and it's now mid-July and we have not received the plot. We continue to follow up every couple weeks as to the status. Most of the time our calls go un answered. One of two times, we were told they were extremely busy and would have it to us by the end of the week. However today, we were told that we were lucky to be getting it at all, and that most companies charge $500 for the plot. And that maybe he should stop being so nice and start charging people for it. So I highly doubt that we will ever receive this plot.
We left town, for 10 days, the day after the system was installed. We didn't want to do this, in case there was issues, but delay after delay in their schedule, caused this. Low and behold, we came back and our yard was soggy and water was running down the street. We had the system set to off, while we were gone, so the system was not running. The system was leaking. We called them when we realized this, it was 6pm during a weekday. We left a message. We received a text message at 6am the following morning on how to shut the water off on the system. They said they would be out the following day to fix. They did come out to fix the issue. However, our water bill was double what it normally was (with being gone for 10 days). We decided it wasn't worth the fight, that they had worn us down completely and we just paid our water bill.
But we have a sprinkler system, our yard is beautiful and we will probably never receive that plot.

They were punctual 99% of the time-when they were going to delayed they called to notify me. Demolition and removal of the old walls and fixtures was done with the rest of the house in mind as to dust and debris containment. Workmen were pleasant and personable and didn't change every time you turned around. The same people came most every day except when the work to be performed on any given day required it. Your input concerning details of how wish something to be is not only welcome but expected to insure the job is done the way you want. They are flexible in design modifications and changes but don't expect them to be free if the changes require additional work or materials. Do your homework on the prices of any fixtures to be used. You may be able to save money by going to one of the big box home improvement stores and then letting Albee know what they sell them for. Payment is standard for the industry so expect to be asked for deposits and draws as the work progresses.

Tim's crew came on Friday morning in the 110 degree heat and cleaned the flower beds and yard. They spent a considerable amount of time working on the sprinklers to diagnose the problem, which turned out to be 2 "fried" valves. Since they didn't have the specific replacements with them, they came back on Saturday morning and replaced the valves. They also checked the entire system to make sure everything was working properly and that all parts of the landscape were getting watered. They worked hard the whole time they were here and graciously answered all my questions throughout the morning. I am very pleased, as always.

Tim, gave me a professional bid, lined up exactly what was going to be done. He was very willing to alter to fit my tastes to what I needed. It looks great. The workers came, they worked solidly and hard. They finished much faster than I anticipated. They came out today and replaced a sprinkler even though I already paid him and he didn't ask for more payment. He is a great person to work with. I was very impressed. I would recommend them to anybody.

When I contacted Albee Brothers in September 2008 for one of three required estimates for my insurance company, he mentioned that the cost of materials had increased recently; which made me skeptical at first. But then he informed me that he would work with my insurance company directly to get more for the materials due to the increase. And he did! The insurance company was required to research the increases for confirmation. Anyway, within a week of accepting the estimate, they started work. There was a small amount of deck repair my insurance company wouldn't cover; Mr. Albee only charged me for the materials for the repairs. They hauled over a trailer and parked in the driveway and tore off the old roof and installed the felt in a day. They even had a crew on the ground to clean up any debris that missed the trailer. I remember because there was a guy with what they called a magnetic broom on wheels that was ran through the yard to pick up any nails that may have fallen. I was impressed with the time spent on cleanup. The next day they installed the drip edge, turbines, vents, and shingles; and cleaned up! I have a few rental houses and have never had a contractor clean up as thoroughly as they did! Not to mention the quality of work performed; it was really professional.
