Garage Door Service
Professional Door, sent by American Home Shield (AHS), repaired one of our two garage door openers a few months back. That problem was obvious that the sensors were defective. However, the technician wanted to replace the wiring, too, but the wires would have to be external and not through the walls. Since that was completely unnecessary, I refused and, after asking what he wanted to do, he finally replaced the sensors. The door has worked fine. At that time, he also said the door wheels should be replaced and AHS would not pay for it. These garage doors are 2-3 years old; basically new and work fine so I declined.
On March 4 we called AHS who sent them out on March 7 to repair the other opener which fails when trying to close the door with a remote. The wall switch works perfectly but the car openers and the remote don't close the door and occasionally won't open them either. I spent a lot of time with LiftMaster on this problem and they believe it is the logic board. The technician said he would have to install a auxiliary external transmitter because that is all AHS would do. That would mean an opener per door, reprogramming the cars, etc. I said I didn't like that solution so he said he would have to contact AHS to see if they would authorize the proper repair and I agreed. Prior to doing that, he suddenly decided to pull the emergency release and slammed the door down. He did it again and then announced that the door needed a tune-up and balancing which AHS wouldn't pay for. I told him that, if the doors needed it, I would go back to the installer and get it done. He then said that he couldn't fix the opener unless the garage door was "fixed". I told him to just leave.
The pattern is plain and obvious. They want to do unnecessary work to generate more money. This hard sell tactic is unethical, dishonest and fraudulent behavior. AHS is sending out someone who is competent and honest.

There were no parts involved and did not adjust the rails on door that caused the problem in the first place
