I had originally submitted the claim on the evening of Sunday February 1, 2015. Landmark Home Warranty had initially referred the claim to Carefree Solutions (which does business online under www.cfpools.com). Carefree Solutions was unable to commit to a specific date and time, other than the work order was due on February 9, 2015. I had several back forth communications by phone and e-mail with Carefree about performing the service earlier, because of the freezing weather, and the potential for pipes bursting. Carefree's response was they were very busy, and that they were not responsible for any delays in repair. I contacted Landmark Home Warranty on Tuesday February 3, 2015 and told them that my experience with Carefree was unacceptable. Landmark Home Warranty made it right and referred the claim to Pool Care Specialists. An appointment was scheduled for Thursday February 5, 2015.
Doug Holcombe, the owner of the business, arrived at the scheduled time. He was able to replace the pool motor and handle on the initial service call. Mr. Holcombe did not have the parts to repair the band assembly, but promised to call me back the following week. Mr. Holcombe followed through, and took care of the band assembly the following week.
I give Mr. Holcombe credit for being able to do the repair on February 5 given the attendant circumstances. The weather was unforgiving. The temperature was at or near freezing, there was intermittent precipitation, and intermittent wind gusts. The old pool motor blew out the 20 amp circuit breaker, which wasn't discovered until after the installation. Mr. Holcombe suggested I go to my local hard ware store, because he was not able to do it the same day. I replaced the circuit breaker, which only took a few minutes. My pool system was up and running without any problems. Mr. Holcombe called me later on in the evening, to confirm whether the pool system was operational. I really appreciated that follow-up even though I didn't ask for it specifically.
I would also note Mr. Holcombe is very personable, and knowledgeable about pool equipment. Mr. Holcombe took the time to explain what went wrong, why it went wrong, and what he did to fix the problem. He really cares about customer service and his profession, and it showed in my experience.
If I have any other issues with my pool, I will not hesitate to ask for Pool Care Specialists again. I cannot recommend this business enough.
