My 14 year old R-22 condenser unit finally burned up.It was a 10 seer. I called Mr. Able and he came out the same day. He told me my unit burned up. I suspected that already because it sounded like a jackhammer sometimes when it came on. Mr. Able performed maintenance on my old unit for 7 years without ever trying to sell me a new one. So when he finally said it was dead, I believed him. He went over my options with me. He explained to me that another R-22 unit would be cheaper in the short run. He also explained that R-22 was going to get more and more expensive in the future because of EPA mandates. I went online and researched and found out he was right. R-22 will no longer be manufactured by the year 2020. That's only 6 years away. R-22 is a dinosaur on a path to extinction. In the meantime R-22 freon charge ups will only get more expensive in the future.               I read online that some people were unhappy with their new R-410 units. Many of these horror stories are due to improper installation by their installer technicians. After doing my research, I came to one conclusion. The installer technician is THE MOST IMPORTANT choice you must make. Not the refrigerant, not the seer, not the brand of the unit. IT'S THE INSTALLER that matters most of all.
After a 7 year track record, I decided to trust Mr. Able to install my R-410 condenser unit and evaporator coil. I also went with a 13 seer. The more expensive higher seer models are more efficient. But the payback from electric bill savings can take 10 years or longer. Not worth it to me. Mr Able did not try to push "high efficiency."  I later found out why after some research.
My new R-410 system works perfectly without a flaw. I'm glad I hired Mr. Able to install it. He said he would give me one free follow up visit to make sure everything was working OK.  Mr. Able is honest and does not perform needless repairs to run up your bill. He also does not attempt any upsell. He lays your options on the table and let's you decide. An A/C guy you can trust, imagine that. He also does heat pumps.
