Auto Service
It went very well. My car was making a grinding noise intermittently and I could not identify the problem, because it was running fine, I could not find any leaks, and the OBD did not show any trouble codes.
Jay's son worked on my car, and after diagnosis he called me and told me what the problem was. He said that there was just a very slight leak that would only be noticeable if the car sat running for several minutes in the same spot. I told him to change the pump out, and when I came back to pick up the car, he showed me the old pump and demonstrated how it made a grinding noise when under tension. The charge was barely more than it would have cost me to buy the parts at Pep Boys, and I didn't have to fool with crawling up under there myself.
This visit to J's was not any surprise to me at all. I have been going to his shop for about 15 years, and taken several different vehicles in there. The service has always been done quickly, properly, and at a very fair price. Jay has top quality diagnostic equipment for when the problems get a little 'squirrelly', if you know what I mean.
Jay and his son are both very knowledgeable and friendly, and don't mind telling you specifically what was wrong with your vehicle. Also, I have found that they will call before doing a repair if it is going to be expensive and may not be something that has to be taken care of immediately.
I appreciate having a small, independent auto service close to my home where I know I can get excellent repair work done on my vehicles. J's Auto Service is definitely a 'BS-free' zone, and that's what we need.
