Thank you to the team at Rivas Rockwall, these are professionals in every way-they rebuilt a very damaged wall that needed demolition with permits, etc, in about a week's time, and repaired our surrounding backyard wall that was falling apart in just about a day. Mr. Rivas and his crew were punctual, and respectful while working on our property, which is very appreciated. They are organized, and provide a reasonable clean-up at the end of each working day, with a full clean-up at the end of the job. All financials are with contracts, and guarantees with signatures on company letterhead. Mr. Rivas provided opportunities for communication through the process and was always available and open to questions. I highly recommend this contractor. Will definitely work with this team again.

WOW! Believe the glowing reviews. Mr. Rivas and his team are punctual, professional and do outstanding work. My rockwall was atrocious and I thought it would take at least a day for the repairs. The team showed up and got the repairs, cleanup and everything done in less than three hours. Very impressed and I will not hesitate to contact them for other work as needed.

Mr. Rivas and his lead painter Joshua came to my house on the weekend to assess the project. On Monday, the crew arrived early morning and worked three days straight. A lot of prep work was involved to included removing nails, caulking, sanding, and masking areas. Two different paint colors were used, one for the walls and the other for the wrought iron. The crew did an excellent job and cleaned everything up upon completion. They were very polite and professional.

They did an awesome job repairing and raising my rock wall around my back yard. Also they expanded my driveway. The bottom slab crack but they immediately repaired it. Looks great....so far awesome work. Only issue would be the residue (concrete spillage) left in the street from their work....neighbors complained to me about it. Little pricey but awesome quality.

The gate was fixed first. That work was good....but it was done by their subcontractor. Regarding the rock walls, we wanted high-quality repair. Some material immediately started to crumble off the repaired areas. Also, white stains started appearing after rain or watering the garden. Patchy-looking areas too. I told him I wanted the walls to look "New". He sure charged enough!!
Response from Rivas Rockwall Co

"Hello and thank you for your review , quick note , everything we do is high quality and comes with a 2 year complete warranty . Please let me know if we need to adjust anything on this project , as a contractor we hire subcontractors for different projects , this is normal in this business , as always our subcontractors must meet high standards of quality . The white pounder look on cement comes from the process of curing and it takes a little while to be cone off , this is also normal when using cement . Please Dont hesitate to call us or provide us with your address so I can personally stop by and provide you with any repairs you feel are needed . Our goal is A plus rating on EVERY project from quality to customer service . Thank you"

At times, it was like 5 people and other times too. They would spend like half a day, they would come up at sunrise just around 7:00, it was still very cold then. They would stay to about 11:30 or so, or 12:00, and it was good because we didn't feel like they were encroaching on our being able to get out and do our stuff.

They did a very fine job and every day they did a certain part of it and a certain part of it and got done very quickly. I was very happy with what they did. I think it was a week or two. They did a very, very fine job and everything was done very well.

I think the price was very fair and right for what he did. We had about 4 or 5 come and give us estimates. It was as much as 10,000 and something dollars was one of them. They went down to like $2,000 or something, $3,000. We were in the middle with them.

They took the rock we had, got the cement off of it and stuff and replaced it again with the rock and they brought some more in. They were an excellent company. I couldn?t speak any higher than what I said about them. They are just very, very good and I would not hesitate to use them again.

They told me when they were going to come and they did have a little bit of a set back with another family they were working with. They were very fair and they let me know ahead of time, so I could call the neighbor to tell them when they were coming. It was very well done and we were very impressed.

Mr Rivas and his guys are all very responsive, polite, punctual and they pay great attention to the details! The painting technician came before 8AM pretty much everyday, and Mr Rivas also stopped by to check up the progress everyday. The price they offer may not be the best, but I did also get a higher quote from another company, so I guess their price is not the highest either. Plus they use Behr premium paint, give 5% discount for Angie's List customer, and do not ask for extra charge when paid with credit card. Definitely will hire them again if there is a need.

Mr. Rivas was completely professional and competitive with his quote. After he had done the repair (which he, himself, performed with another very polite helper), he personally took me around the walls to check that the job met my expectations. It's been five months since the work was done, and in fact, his "super strong," high-quality concrete still looks great. I highly recommend him for rock wall repair or construction.

We had agreed that Mr Rivas would pull out the old, rusted wrought iron that topped our rock wall behind our house. He would build evenly spaced pillars on the wall to support new wrought iron. He also agreed to do some minor brick work on our house. He said that his people would cut back any vegetation that got in the way of their work, "but would be very careful with it." The workers, on 5/02/2016, hacked the wisteria and desert willows with hatchets; only one worker I saw had a tree saw. They paid no attention to the effect their botanical butchery had on the other side of the fence--we live at the top of a slope, and some of the loosened trees and bushes threatened to tumble into the yard of our neighbors below us. When informed of this, Mr. Rivas basically said it wasn't his job to worry about that. His people started building the pillars--but they were not spaced correctly. Instead of taking the length of the fence and dividing by the number of pillars we had agreed on, for some reason he started spacing the pillars every eight feet from the western end of the wall. The last pillar was about four feet from the eastern end of the wall. He then tried to convince us that we wanted that four-foot "panel." We pointed out that that was not what we wanted at all. He got back to us and said he could do two six foot "panels" of wrought iron. We said fine--put one six foot panel at each end of the wall and run the eight-foot panels between them. He agreed. But instead of removing the misplaced pillars and rebuilding in the proper locations, he said he intended to extend the width of the pillars to fit the fence. When my wife complained that this was not what we wanted, he became irritated and said she was being "too picky," and said he didn't think he could work with us. Add to this that the rock they were using didn't really match the existing rock in the wall, and that they left their trash in the back yard rather than hauling it off ("The dump's closed on Monday--we'll get it tomorrow.") We terminated our relationship with them. They came back at 6:30am on 5/03/2016 and removed the unused rock, broke down the pillars they had built the day before and removed the rock and concrete, and left, leaving the rock at the curb to be picked up later. We still have the detritus--the branches and old wrought iron--to dispose of since they did not haul it away. As it is, we now have to pay a landscaper to fix the vegetation problems behind the fence (which, to be fair, is not entirely the fault of the workers) and rent a dumpster to dispose of the trash. If we're spending $5000 for a job, I expect to get a quality service at the specifications we agreed on, not what the contractor decides he wants to do because he messed up the math. It was also obvious that he had other jobs going on the same day, so there seemed to be little concern for quality, only speed. Needless to say, we were disappointed with poor quality of work we witnessed and with the poor customer service.

"It's hard when difference of opinions run together . As professional as we are , giving thanks and moving on sometimes Is the beast thing to do for both customer and contractor . Our business is based on helping and providing quality Products to our customers . In this case unfortunately , our tru potential was put on hold from day one due to different Sircumstances that we won't go in detail . Wish this customer the best in finding someone that fits their way of thinking. Always polite and profesional is our way to do business even when it does not work . One negative in 34 years of business is Something we take pride in . I could write many things but choose not to because of respect to customer and my business etiquette , wish this customer The best and truly hope she finds the right company to work with her needs . Thank you ."
