When we recently moved to El Paso from Tacoma, Washington, the first thing that struck us was how horrible the water tasted and how dry our skin was after bathing. This experience was in stark contrast to the water in Tacoma, which, although needing some filtering, still tasted great and did not produce dryness on the skin. So the first order of business was to purchase a water softener. Dave of Ramos Drilling and Water Treatment Inc. was referred to me by a plumber doing some work at my home. When Dave contacted me, he discussed what he did and why it was necessary. Most importantly, he talks about the quality of his work and how he treated his customers. So we scheduled an appointment for Dave to come to the house and test the water. We scheduled an appointment to have a system installed that would fit our needs and budget. When Dave arrived, I was impressed by his confident yet humble demeanor; he was knowledgeable and friendly. Dave was very thorough in explaining the city water treatment processes and the contaminants in the water. Our conversation lasted a couple of hours before he even tested the water. Once he completed testing the water, we were sold; we scheduled an appointment to have a water treatment system installed that would fit our needs and budget. Dave did the installation himself. I watched him during most of the setup. His attention to detail was impressive. He didn't cut any corners as some contractors are inclined to do. He installed the system to look like part of the house instead of some bulky addition that stands out and gets in the way. The system works wonderfully! The water now has a soft, almost lotion-like quality when taking a shower. It's incredible what a difference the water treatment system has made. Now we can focus on other home renovation projects. Recently bought a house that had a water softener but was not inform how to use or maintain it, I called the number in the tank and Dave owner operator came out and did some maintenance and inform me what cause the issue I at with it. So with some upgrades installed now I know how to properly use and maintain the system. He was upfront with the cost and was very professional with the work that he does. I highly recommend him, as he is genuinely cares about customer satisfaction.

Dave was recommended by a Lowes employee after I asked a series of questions about one of their water softeners. He told me that if I wanted something that would last, to consider a customized system specific to treat El Paso water. I made an appointment with Dave where he gave us information about the sources of El Paso’s water and did chemical tests with our kitchen water to show us the (unhealthy) levels of rock sediments and chlorine that is absorbed directly by our skin. He put the same water into a miniature filtration tube he developed to also show us how his system cleans and softens the water. He offered to install one of his tanks on a trial basis which we accepted. Two days later when he started the install connection to the water shut off valve in the garage, he showed me how the valve connection was corroded from the City water, so he replaced it free of charge with a better one. We tried the system for nine days, then Dave returned to hear our opinions – no more itchy skin, water tasted better, it felt softer, fewer soap spots, the washing machine did not have the same odor, etc. He chemical tested our sink water again and showed us the difference in the quality just nine days of using his test tank. As we went over purchase options, his custom install is a plug and play in that you can buy a basic unit and add to it, depends on your budget. In my decision I took into consideration other options: if I had purchased a basic one size fits all water softener plus filtration from Lowes, plus the cost of hiring a plumber to hopefully do the job right, we would have spent about $2,000; a more advanced system would have cost between $3,500 and $4,500; I had also called local companies that do water treatment installs and they charge between $6,500 and $7,500. We ended up buying a system for just under $5,000. He gave us the option to put the water filtration under out sink or connect it directly to the refrigerator. We chose the latter which requires custom plumbing for the water return which Dave did it at no additional charge. He also gave us plumbing options for the tank regeneration, and told us that if we didn’t like our selection he would return, again free of charge, to install the other plumbing option. Another positive is that if later we want to increase the tank size, he will take the smaller tank and give us full credit on the install of the larger tank since he can use the smaller one for his test installs for potential customers. Still another positive is that because we connected the filtration to the refrigerator, he ordered a smaller unit that fits in one of our cabinets. The reverse osmosis in this smaller unit is more advanced and slightly costlier, but he didn’t charge us the difference. It has been one month since the install and it was a great investment. I watched Dave do the custom install and plumbing from start to finish in our garage, which includes quality parts that will not corrode. The entire process is not your typical sale. It is apparent that Dave commits to each of his installs and wants to make sure the customer is fully satisfied, to the point that he is easily accessible for any question after the sale.

Hello, my name is Carmelita Di Mery. I am writing a review on Ramos Drilling and Water Treatment owned by Dave Ramos out of El Paso, TX. Mr. Ramos was contacted by me after reading great reviews from the Angie's List website. I was looking for someone to come and assess the poor water quality at my parents' home in NM. My parents live in the country and use water from a well pumped from deep within the earth off their property. My parents had a water softener installed many years ago, but never did keep up with the maintenance of the system. It looked great with many fancy and large canisters and tanks. It seemed to do it's job at first, but due to neglect and years of un-keep, the water quality started to deteriorate. We started to notice massive amounts of sediment in the bottom of drinking glasses after the ice had melted. Also noted was the massive amounts of lime-scale build up on glass shower doors and pipes as well as the popping sounds coming from the water heaters located in the home. The water seemed "dirty", and I was concerned for the safety and well-being of my elderly parents, pets, and anyone who was consuming the water coming out of the pipes. In addition, it was very noticeable how dry your skin felt after showering in the home. I knew that the water needed to be fixed. I found myself looking for sales professionals who could fix the issue at my parents home. I came across a review here at Angie's List talking about Mr. Dave Ramos and his company "Ramos Drilling and Water Treatment". Specifically, what caught my eye was the fact that he was very knowledgeable and adept in well-water systems. That is exactly what I needed! Someone who could work with softening water that came naturally from the ground! I called him and set up an appointment for him to come and assess the situation. I was so very impressed with him when he came out. He was extremely polite and professional and proceeded to explain the whole system that we had in place. Apparently, the former system was set up wrong and too small for the output of water on our property. Mr. Ramos explained in great, scientific detail how a water softening system works and even set up his own miniature version of the real tank system. It was a real science experiment! Mr. Ramos was able to demonstrate our current water situation based on our old and outdated (and unkempt) filter. I was SHOCKED!!! The water that the family and the pets were drinking, cooking with, bathing in, and all household chores was DISGUSTING!!!! I had no idea that this was the water that we had been using for so long! The water was filled with massive amounts of sediment and "rock" as he called it. The rock particles are microscopic so it was never noticed as such during the dispensing process, but clearly noticed in a glass of water at the bottom of the glass after the ice had melted. It looked like a flurry of white sludge. So gross, I never drank this portion because I thought I would clog my kidneys. Mr. Ramos used a miniature set up of his system to "clean" the water that came out of the kitchen faucet. I could not believe my eyes of our untreated water versus his system! When I compared the 2 vials of water he produced, I could not find any sediment in his treated water compared to what the kitchen sink was producing. I knew that nasty water was what we had been using for a long time using our old system! I had to have his system. I purchased immediately, and I set up a date for install! Mr. Ramos came out and completely re-vamped the whole system including pipes and tanks. His work is absolutely impeccable and perfect! The tanks and pipes were installed with such great precision and care (completely leveled and BEAUTIFUL)! His attention to detail is amazing. He even talked to me about how to regenerate the system away from pecan trees so as not to damage the existing flora of the property. We came up with an ideal solution, and the system is working wonderfully. It has been many months now that we have had the new system. I can honestly say that his system is producing the best tasting water I have ever had, even better than bottled water. The ice-cubes are so clean that you can see through them now, and there is no more nasty sediment in the bottom of drinks that use water or ice from the home. I am amazed!!! Also, as an added bonus, the household appliances have started to clear from the lime-scale build up, and the water heaters are not "popping" anymore. The water is so soft it feels like you are bathing in lotion and your detergents go further. The water is so soft, it is SLIPPERY. Fellow Readers: Hard water? What does that even mean? When I moved to the newer subdivision off Pebble Hills and Tim Foster, this question became more frequent to my family and I. It was evident that the newer developed area had an issue with hard water and to my surprise I like many of you began the research on who a “trustworthy” person would be to install a water treatment in my home and educate me and family on what we were purchasing. In my research, I came across David Ramos Water Drilling Company and like you, read the reviews… and went with him and it was the best decision I could have made for my family. When he arrived at my home, it was clear from the beginning that he was not at my home to “sale” but to educate and that is what I feel we need when making such a purchase for our home. He sets up different water tests to examine the quality of water and explains every step. We were able to physically see just how dirty our drinking water is here in El Paso. It is shocking and to be honest disgusting to know what we drink daily and the neat thing is he shows you there is no gimmick- no tricks… What I found out interesting and was shocked was that Mr. Ramos allows you to try out the system for one week free of charge (yes, he installs the trial system and will remove the system if you do not want it) This worked out for us because we were able to see the difference in the water and make a decision based on how we liked it. After careful consideration to the future of our health and the quality of our current drinking water we decided to purchase the water treatment product. It is an investment but what he does, is he calculates your yearly expenses and we have the system for a little over a month and have already noticed a difference in money spent in laundry detergent, bath soap, shampoo, etc. we have a rottweiler and the water itself has made a difference in his coat when he gets his bath… our vehicles, we no longer need to go waste money at the car wash we literally can connect the hose to the unit itself and wash our trucks without soap and they are clean. Overall, we are very satisfied with the product and the installation and the clean work that Mr. Ramos does. I wish El Paso Builders would recognize this product and include it as part of the package of the purchase of the home. This would benefit the buyer and the builder because the water would be quality water. David is very meticulous with the installation and does very clean and professional looking work. This is my review for the installation of my Whole House Water Softener and Drinking System by Dave at Ramos Drilling and Water Treatment Inc. I served in the military for many years traveling and living all over the US and Europe. When I moved to El Paso Texas with my family from Germany. We noticed a significant difference in our water quality. The water was very hard with a strong smell of Chlorine and at times, a foul odor- especially when washing clothes or running the dishwasher. We have had issues with dry skin and eczema shortly after we got to El Paso Texas. We knew that we had to do something about the water and were looking for someone to help us with the water problems we had. When we bought our home on the Eastside of El Paso, we asked our Realtor (who helped us buy our home) if he knew someone who installed home water treatment systems. I've come to El Paso, tx from Madison, WI. In Wisconsin, the winters can be very dry and cold, but coming to Texas I find the water can be very harsh on your skin, and drinking it, to me it didn't taste so good! I started buying bottled water, and when I bathe, I would have to use a lot of moisturizer on my skin. My son met Mr. Ramos who would later install this water treatment system. I mean this system is like no other I have used. Almost immediately I felt the difference the drinking water tasted so good. I use this water this water when I make coffee in the morning, and my skin feels so soft. I don't even have to use that much soap anymore. You would have to see this system, it's amazing! Some people would say anything to sell you their product or system, but not Mr. Ramos, he tests your water, and let you try out the drinking system. We are Jake and Karley Deck and for many years have been aware of the importance of the quality of our water. As a Military couple, we have kind of lived all over. We’ve experienced it all, from super-soft to super-hard. After about a year here in El Paso, it became overwhelmingly apparent that our family’s comfort and health was being negatively impacted by the local water. Dry skin, itchiness, the disgusting smell of chlorine, and sometimes even the smell of the sewer was coming out of our faucets and that was something we dealt with on a daily basis here. Dave is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond. Not only did he install his equipment, but found some other issues in the house and fixed them as well. Everything went great. Although I paid for my system in full, they have great payment plans. Great service,  and great professionals. Not only does my water taste great, but i do not have to worry about replacing corroding pipes, shower heads due to the high concentrate of chlorine etc. that is in El Paso water.

It went amazingly well.  Immediately upon payment, we received the unit and had it installed.  Dave taught us everything we needed to know for maintenance of the unit, and even provided support for uninstalling it when we moved to San Antonio.  I definitely recommend him for any water services you need.
