My vehicle was needing the water pump replaced. I didn't want to go back to any previous mechanics I'd dealt with because they seem to have a "I'm doing you a favor" attitude to go with their high prices and bad work. I decided to give "Angie's List" a try and found Mand J Auto Service. I phoned and spoke to "Mo", who gave me a good quote for a new water pump, thermostat and any antifreeze needed. That morning, I had my vehicle towed to their shop. By that afternoon, my vehicle was ready. When I arrived, "Mo" showed me the old parts they'd replaced and took time to explain why they'd replaced them. I also kind'a got a bit of a talking to about my safety sticker needing attention. Overall, the price for parts, labor and added safety sticker were good and my vehicle was ready that same day. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. So far, my vehicle's been running pretty good.

Disclaimer: This is going to be a bit long, due to the amazing service I received from Mo and Mand J Auto.
My mother's SUV was stuck under the Camino Real hotel's parking garage (with a clearance of less than 7 feet) starting from June 29th until July 2nd, when I found Mand J Auto on Angie's list and called then up (I wanted a mechanic close by, as I work in the downtown area and it would be more convenient to drop off and pick up the vehicle).
I spoke to a gentleman by the name of Mo. He was very enthusiastic over the phone and he assisted me by having the towing company give me a call to get the vehicle to Mand J Auto. After speaking to the towing company, I found out that they would charge me 60 dollars to send out a truck plus any additional fees that would incur while attempting to haul the vehicle out of the parking garage. I called Mo back with this news and he said he'd send out his son and another employee to come to the hotel and take a look to see if they could get the vehicle out of there.
After they took a look at the vehicle, they were able to successfully maneuver the SUV out of the parking garage (although I was pretty skeptical for most of the process) and took the vehicle back to their shop. WIthin a few hours, I received a call from Mo, telling me the work would be about 500 dollars after parts and labor. I called Hoy Fox Lexus to just do a quick price check (as this is where I normally take this vehicle for all work) and they quoted me close to 900 dollars. I called Mo right back and gave him the green light. He told me the estimated date of completion would be friday, July 6th because of the 4th of July holiday and having to order the part.
Mo actually completed the work by thursday and I ended up picking up the car on friday, due to my schedule. I was going to walk from my business (close to the Camino Real hotel) to Mand J Auto (the shop ended up being farther away than I thought, and I would have had to do quite a bit of walking) but it was raining and Mo generously insisted he'd come pick me up and take me to his shop. Upon arrival, he showed me exactly what broke in the vehicle and what got replaced. Mo also noticed that the vehicle's battery was in poor condition yet still under warranty so he got that replaced free of charge. I paid and was in and out of there within minutes.
So to review, 500 dollars got me the following services.a: towing out of a parking garage (labor).b: replacement of the key housing/ignition (parts + labor).c: replacement of a bad battery (labor).d: Pick up from my work to the shop when the car was ready.
Now that's what I call service.
One thing to note, Mo may be quite abrupt when speaking about things. However, he will tell you how it is and won't beat around the bush or yank your chain. Definitely was worth trying out.

All repairs are completed in a timely manner whenever possible. When we needed a used engine for an older car, they searched diligently for months until one became available that we could afford. Our cars have ranged from new to 10+ years old and M & J can handle anything.

The last service was a routine oil change...since I travel long distances and my mileage is mostly on freeways, Mo makes sure that I have the right oil to time with my car's oil service reminders. He also alerted me that my tires needed replacing when I hadn't noticed and saved me from a possible high-speed blowout as well. There's nothing fancy about M and J, just hard working men who know cars. My livlihood depends on my vehicle and at almost 5 years old, it's pushing 200k with Mand Js quality service.
