Pros: Contractor is very professional, attentive, on time, and calls when running late, courtesies not to be underestimated these days. Also has a great personality and is very patient, amenable to new ideas. Cons: A fair amount of communication problems. I was not always sure when workers were coming or what the plan that day was or even what colors things were going to be painted. Contractor told me that cabinets would be coming down a few tones in color but was not shown swatches ahead of time to represent what contractor had in mind. A mauve primer went on the cabinets which surprised me since light colored cabinets normally take white primer. Did not like where color scheme was going so went back to white. Also based on other estimates I received, I thought price would include all countertops but she said would not be able to this time. Main problem is the price. Nothing was included. The one wall to be painted did not include the door trim. Go figure. I had to pay another $100 for the door trim. Also what should have been a four week job went on for four months. My neighbor has the exact same kitchen as I do. She had her cabinets refaced, new floor, all new granite countertops, and had more remodeling done than I, and the job which came out beautifully was completed in one month. I had her contractor come look at my finished job, and while he thought that the overall work was fine, he about dropped his jaw when I told him the price. He tried to mitigate the fact that he obviously thought that I had gotten ripped off. By the way he has an A on Angie's list and a long list of reviews. Also there were lots of little mistakes that I had to spot. For the money the work should have been perfect. A year later the paint on the refaced doors is already chipping, and the doors seem lightweight. I fear that most of my money went into the contractor's pocket rather than into the materials for the job. Initially, I had wanted to sink my refrigerator into the closet behind it but the return duct would have had to be removed. The contractor told me that that was not a fun way to spend my money. For what I ended up paying this contractor, with another contractor I could have done just that and had what I wanted. I did not remodel my kitchen because it was out of style but because the cabinet doors were warped and no longer closed. My husband and I are professors at El Paso Community College and do not have a lot of expendable income. Ever since we moved in I saved my money to fix the kitchen. This was my first time using a professional contractor based on a cousin's recommendation. I thought that my cousin had used this contractor for her remodel but came to find out too late that she only knew her. In the contractor's defense she is juggling a lot of jobs and is perhaps better at larger remodels. At the time of the remodel my son was quite ill and I was going through my final year of tenure. I had asked her to reschedule the job for summer when he became ill, but she persuaded me to go ahead with the job. How I wish that I had trusted my instincts. Keep in mind that I am a bit of a perfectionist and am a bit obsessive compulsive. On a positive note most people think the kitchen looks fine, and this contractor does work very hard and provides schematics and elevations so you can visualize. Do your research, get start and end dates built into the contract, and make sure that the contractor itemizes by price each part of the remodel. The workers are very professional and clean up and haul away all debris left from the job. Good luck and hope this review helps. At the time of my project this contractor had not been reviewed on Angie's List.
