This is by no means by first move (this was round move #12+) but it was the worst by far!
The estimate went fine. I was promised some standard things (wrap the couch and sofa chair in protective covering, pad the furniture so it doesn't get scratch, box the mattresses). I set up my date for the move. I had not heard from the company so two days before the move I called to ask what time they were coming. I was told they hadn't scheduled a time yet and they would get back to me. They got back the evening before the move and said between 8 and 9am. They didn't show up until after 1000am and didn't bother to call until right before they arrived to let me know they would be late.
The 3 men showed up and the first thing one of them did is ask if my husband was at work and then tried to give me his number throughout the day. Next I found out they did not bring any dollies with them. Not a single one! I had one in the car so I let them use it, but it wasn't really designed for moving heavy furniture. They had nothing to wrap the furniture in and did not pad the furniture either. I called the office immediately and the secretary answered and when I told him my concerns and asked what was going on I got no response. I called later and asked to speak with the manager but was told he had just stepped out. I left a message on his voicemail and asked for a return call. As of the date of this review I have never received one call or any communication from him. When I asked the movers why they were not protecting anything, the response was "it's just a local move, right?"
So needless to say, because the furniture was not protected as promised almost everything had damage to it. Instead of completely boxing up the mattress and box spring mattress, they used half a box for each. And when they started to move furniture in, there was nothing put down to protect the floors and consequently the brand new kitchen floor was damaged. No dollies so they slid things and pushed and pulled.
I was so upset. I got a hold of the lady who did the estimate and gave her an earful about what was going on. She promised she would get her boss involved. In the meantime the guys finished up and I asked for the paperwork showing the charges. Well come to find out they did not take an inventory of anything they loaded and unloaded. He said they were just going to go off of the estimate. I said absolutely not, especially since that estimate was done a month before and I had moved a majority of the items myself and down-sized quite a bit. I made him take an inventory, because I wasn't going to be charged for time and items they didn't move (especially since I had to lend them equipment). Finally they left and I got the documentation I needed to show when they arrived, left, and what they moved. A supervisor finally came over (not the office manager) and I told him everything that had happened. I was told he would get back with me. As of the date of this review it hasn't happened.
I have been having to work through the lady who gave me the estimate to get anything done. When I got a list of the final charges I was told the office was trying to charge me off the estimate (7.5 hours to move and all the household goods). In fact it only took 3.25 hours for them to move (and damage) my furniture and they only moved 21 items total. She said she got it down to 4 hours with an hour of drive time for a total of 5 hours. I was angry all over again. I asked how was it I as being charged 5 hours when I had documentation that it only took them 3.25hrs to move. Then I asked how much I should charge them for use of my dolly. I stated the signed paperwork from the men who did the moving (and damaging) clearly showed when they started and ended. Oh guess what, that paperwork was missing along with the inventory I made him do. Lucky for me and bad for them, I had copies to provide to them. I'm still waiting on a bill correction. I'm still waiting on a claim and repairs for my floors and furniture (the company they use to handle the claims will not return calls, so good luck if you have damages).
I finally called the Corporate Office today. Still haven't heard back from them. Do not, do not, do not use this company unless you want your home and furniture damaged, to be erroneously billed, and not to have any of the promises fulfilled and standard operating procedures followed.
