Small jobs welcome

"Could not have been more pleased with the job that Star Upholstery did re-upholstering our dining room chairs. From the selection of the fabric to the pick-up and delivery everything was well done. The pricing was reasonable, and the work quality was excellent. Arturo is a pleasure to deal with and so is everybody (Sandra and Lionel) with Star Upholstery. Star Upholstery will be our choice for future needs."

"We had a small job but I was very pleased with the service outcome as I had an overall pleasant experience from initial contact to completion of the install. Solid Stone Fabricators rep contacted me in a timely fashion reqarding my emailed inquiry via Angie's List where I included a picture of cabinet needing counter and provided measurements and they were able to give me an estimate via phone and email based on the info I provided which I appreciated instead of wasting my time to come out first.
Gerardo who was my contact person was very easy to work with and very responsive to follow-up questions before the install. There was an error that was made by the guys during the install but Gerardo ensured that it was rectified and in a timely fashion as well, pain free which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family and will use them in the future.

"A1 Clean (Demario) was professional, trustworthy, prompt, and did an amazing job on my hardwood floors! I interviewed 4 companies before deciding to go w/ A1 Clean and I'm are very glad I did. I will use them again when I add hardwood to the 2nd  floor. I had some areas of pet damage, where the wood was stained black. The floor needed both refinishing, and repair. A1 Clean did a great job. The floors look like new, and the work was done quickly. It looks great!

"I have a 20 year old leather sofa and love seat that the leather was worn down to the bare hide....Ricardo gave me an estimate from pics I sent him. He made an appointment and arrived right on time and made my sofa and love seat look like new. He has been doing this work for 20 years and knows what he is doing. He matched the leather dye perfectly and by the time he finished, not only did he do an amazing job, he is just an all around nice person. I would definitely use him again. He also warranties his work for 1 year.  The before and after pics on his website are a true representation of his work.  Joe Duca"

"Clay gave us a very reasonable quote, and we went forward. What we can say is that we got great service, a quality product, professional installation--all done by an interesting and friendly guy. If we need further window treatments, we'll certainly come back to Over The Top as we can highly recommend them."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Interior and exterior door openings are typically 80 inches high, with openings 29¼ inches wide for interior doors and 35 inches wide for exterior doors. If your couch is smaller than these measurements, it should fit through the door frame.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

The time required to reupholster furniture depends on the item's size, complexity, and condition. The hands-on work can range from 2-3 hours for a simple dining chair to 10 to 20 hours for a large sofa. The total project timeline with a professional, including fabric sourcing and scheduling, typically ranges from one to three weeks.

Several factors can affect the timeline. Antique furniture often takes longer due to the delicate care required. If additional repairs are needed, such as sanding or refinishing wood components, the process will also take more time. A DIY reupholstery project will usually take significantly longer than a professional job.

Costs depend on fabric choice, furniture size, cushioning, and labor. For significant projects, expect estimates between $350 and $1,200.

Reupholstering an old or antique chair can be worthwhile if the frame is still sturdy and the piece has sentimental or monetary value. Reupholstery often costs less than buying a high-quality new chair, and you can customize the look. However, extensive repairs or rare fabrics may increase the total cost.
