"Everyone was super. Bailey made sure I understood the entire process. John and his crew were terrific. The first day he introduced everyone to me. That was just a little thing, but I really appreciated it They arrived on time every day and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. One thing that was very important to me was they were really careful about closing the gate to the back yard--very important for a dog owner. Diego made himself available for my calls and questions. Everyone made a stressful repair go as smoothly as possible. I'm very pleased that I used Baird."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Plant a peach tree right at the end of your local dormancy period, likely at the very end of winter after the last frost when you can dig into the soft soil. Plan your backyard gardening season, including when planting peach trees, based on the frost schedule predicted in your local hardiness zone.

As with anything you do near your foundation, you’ll want to ensure proper drainage when you plant your foundation beds. Your drainage should run downhill from the highest point against your foundation to avoid water intrusion and incurring expensive foundation repair costs.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

While both fall and spring are suitable times of the year for planting trees, fall is typically the better option. Soil stays warm long enough to allow tree roots to establish in fall before they go dormant, while spring might give way to intense summer heat before spring-planted trees have time to grow strong roots.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.
