He got a guy out for me the next day and and said he would work really hard for me. They did a great job and I would definitely use them again. I would highly recommend them.

Alan came to view the problem less than 24 hours from first contact.  He examined the roof and the building, offered suggestions and recommendations based on our priorities, and prepared an estimate.  Did the work in less than a week and  would have completed sooner if there hadn't been several days of rain that interfered.  He kept us up to date on plans and progress, and offered solutions to unanticipated problems uncovered when the old roofing was removed.  Very professional.

Mitchell Construction did a terrific job with my new roof.  David McIntosh was very responsive and professional.  He was completely up-front with me and answered all my questions.  I was going out of town and wanted to get the roof done before I left.  David made it happen.  I contacted Mitchell Construction on a Monday and the roof was installed on Wednesday of the next week.  Outstanding turnaround!

David met with the insurance adjuster on a holiday weekend, scheduled the roofing crew, and worked with me every step of the way.  Shingle delivery was at risk of delaying the project, but David managed to have his own crew pick up the materials on the morning of the installation to make sure the roof got installed on time.  The installation was completed in one day, including installing a ridge vent, doing some minor repairs to the decking, and replacing a lot of flashing which was apparently not installed correctly years ago.  The crew did a thorough job of clean up as well.

It was a big help to have David shepherd me through the insurance process and meet with the adjuster himself.

The roof looks great and I'm very happy with it.  We've had a lot of rain since the roof was installed and there are no leaks.    I certainly recommend Mitchell Construction to others.

Allen Barber initially came out to make a bid on the job. He was one of 3 bids I got. He was polite and took his time looking over everything. His inspection was detailed and he educated me about the process. I learned a lot from Allen and he was not pitching a sale or pushy about getting the job, he was genuinely interested in teaching me and helping me understand the process.
His bid was fair, he was able to schedule the job around my work schedule and he had the crew to get the job done in a day. They dropped off the materials the day before, came the next day very early and completed the whole job. They left my house and yard clean, not one piece of garbage or debris anywhere.
The roof looks fantastic and I couldn't be happier with it.
Now here is an extra note of praise: I recently had a mouse in my attic. I wondered if the new roof vents Allen put in could have anything to do with a mouse getting in so I called Allen, mind you it was Christmas time. Allen and his very nice wife insisted on coming out to take a look to make sure everything was OK. Allen went into the attic, walked all around the house and went up on the roof. The vents were fine and not a problem, but he did find the likely mouse entry which had nothing to do with the roof, and fixed it for me. Allen did this out of concern for my house and as a courtesy. (I used mouse traps and caught the mouse.) That's what I call amazing service and a great guy!

Mitchell Construction/Roofing, was extremely responsive and very quick to come out, do an estimate and was very easy to work with. Alan Barber, the owner, clearly works long hard days and has no problem stopping by to do an estimate for a new customer after a long day on another job site. I called several companies who told me it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they would send someone out just for the estimate. Alan Barber, was informative, helpful and made sure every detail before, during and after the job was taken care of in a very efficient amount of time. Alan was clearly interested in making sure I had not only a quality roof installed, but correct features installed. He explained what type of venting our house needed, the type of trim our insurance company was requiring and what my choices were, all within the budget of the estimate. He added venting along the ridge tops and upgraded the plastic vent covers to metal and stayed in budget. The hail had put large holes in the old plastic covers, clearly metal will hold up much better. He explained about the different types of shingles and color choices. Alan worked with our insurance company in a professional and honest manner. I had spoken and gotten a couple of estimates from other roofing companies who either suggested or clearly were going to "help" me avoid paying the insurance deductible. Last time I checked, this was called fraud and not anything I was interested in doing.
Before the date for the roof installation, Alan and his wife Michelle who works with him, came over and did an internal home inspection, explained exactly what he was doing and why. Looking for ceiling cracks, water stains that might indicate roof leaks etc. He also went through a detailed check list of how I needed to prepare my home, my family and pets for the day of the installation. This was all new to me so having a step by step explanation was very helpful and quite educational. Alan was very patient and considerate of our home, family, pets and yard.
On the day before the job was scheduled, his crew delivered the supplies on time, and with no problems. On the day of the job, his crew showed up on time, finished in one day, cleaned up every piece of garbage and left a beautiful new roof that looked better than I expected.
I would use Mitchell Construction again and highly reccomend them.

I have nothing but great things to say about Alan and his construction company, Mitchell Construction. As a first time, hail-damage recipient, the process was of course foreign and most unpleasant. He took countless time to explain to me the entire process and actually lowered his original bid to reduce my out of pocket expenses!

I had countless issues with my mortgage company and the steps required for them to re-issue funds... thanks to the texas law that your insurance check has to be made out to your mortage company. Alan was very supportive and helped supply any documentation required to get things moving.

If I had to say anything "bad" about the company, it's that they only focus on roofing now. I would love to hire him for a remodel job!

If you are looking for a roofing company, these reviews should speak for themselves. Don't have any hesitation to call Alan and his crew.

Hands down, Mitchell Construction is the best contractor I've ever worked with, period. From my initial consultation to the final review of the finished work, Alan went above and beyond what I expected and what I had experienced from any other contractor. Having had bad experiences in the past, I had grown very suspicious of companies over-promising and under-delivering. The amount of fliers I had received after the hail that hit our area was evidence to me that there were a lot of storm chasers out there out for a quick buck. Rather than make a rash decision I'd regret later, I made sure I waited long enough to avoid the fly-by-night companies. I did my research by looking on yelp.com, the better business bureau, recommendations at work, and various company websites. I narrowed it down to two companies and Mitchell won out due to responsiveness and eagerness to do the job right even if it meant not doing the roof at all. During his first visit, Alan was very up front with me about his work, the way the roofing industry operates, and what to expect as a homeowner. I felt like I was working with someone who genuinely cared about my own interests as an individual. At no point in the conversation did I feel as if I was being sold something or being asked to do anything that wasn't within what I needed. We got on the roof together, noted areas that were hit and I learned about what sorts of damage hail can do to a home. Later, we look a look at the attic, where he showed me various hot spots and recommended solutions that fit my particular scenario. I felt so confident in what he was telling me and the way he approached the work, that I decided to go with a lifetime warranty shingle. When the delivery of materials (3rd party company) was a little sloppy, he was quick to call his supplier and demand they call me and apologize. While unexpected and possibly unnecessary, this type of first-class treatment is what you can expect with MItchell. Alan is an outstanding communicator who realizes his business depends on reputation. He is determined to do a great job and takes pride in what he does. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them for roofing, general contracting, or any other service I need. I wish more contractors worked by his code of conduct. And, after looking at my neighbor's roofing jobs I can now identify what types of things they had (or didn't have) done, which has empowered me as a consumer. How many contractors do you know that would go that extra mile?

After the big Austin hail storm we had companies trolling our neighborhood offering to re-roof our home. I interviewed several from Angies list and although most of them seemed okay, one guy called my sweet-tempered dog Cujo and another offered to help us scam our insurance company. A neighbor recommended Mitchell and Alan Barber came out and seemed like a decent guy. He had his men hand nailing the shingles instead of using a nail gun as it is supposed to prevent accidents because the men have to conscientiously place the nails. We decided to spend more to get storm shingles in order to prevent having to replace our roof again due to another hail storm. It is hard to know the real quality of a new roof until something goes wrong as the job went well as far as we can tell. What really made the difference for us is Alan was always, always available for any question or concern we had with a pleasant attitude and friendly personality. After the truck came and loaded shingles onto our very high, steep roof...some of those shingles came sliding down in the evening. Alan and his wife were at our house inspecting the event at 10pm that same night. No damage had occurred and it was not his company who had loaded the shingles. A year later a tree trimmer had noticed some of our branches had lifted up a few shingles. Alan was back a few days later, again no fault of his, and was up on our roof nailing down these shingles himself. He also asked us to call him after we get another hail storm so he can see how these expensive storm shingles actually hold up to the extreme weather so he will know whether to recommend them or not to his customers. It was my husband who proposed the extra expense. I felt Alan Barber as the owner of this company was honest, did not try to stiff us or our insurance company and went the extra mile in taking pride in the work his company does.

They were fantastic. The proposal process with their sales representative was quick, clear and painless. There were no hard sell tactics. Their proposal form is very easy to follow and understand. They also are willing to work with your homeowner's insurance company if a supplement is needed to completely cover needed work. They hand nail everything. The job foreman was very professional. They showed up on time, and finished when they said they would. When they were done, my yard was pristine. The whole team was incredibly helpful. They located a gutter replacement company who is coming out next week to replace my damaged gutters as well as gave me a referral for someone to do some unrelated interior repairs I want done. Phone calls to company representatives were always quickly returned, and they sent the final receipt into the insurance company so I can receive the depreciation funds remaining on my homeowner's insurance claim.
